It's sad that our society is so uneducated that people seem to believe the stereotype that schizophrenics are dangerous (they can be, but they certainly aren't always, and studies show time and time again that they are most dangerous to THEMSELVES and their family members).

A careless teen who is drunk or on drugs is just as dangerous (if not more so) than someone with a mental illness....

Are Schizophrenics Dangerous

A very small percentage of unmedicated schizophrenics behave violently; the rest of them are no more likely than anyone else to act out or be dangerous. You "guess" this person is a schizophrenic. I think you are probably making an erroneous judgment and have the potential to do a lot of harm. Unless you actually know this person's diagnosis, you should stop staring at him and making up stories about what he might or might not do.

They can be. When a person with schizophrenia is in a psychotic state, they often lose touch with reality, and everything becomes distorted.People with paranoid scizophrenia, when in a dilusional state, often believe that others are trying to harm them, or they hear voices sometimes believing it is the voice of God telling them to kill someone because they are really demons. Most people with this illness respond very well with medications, but they should be closely monitered to ensure that they are taking their meds, because often times, when they feel better they start to slack off on taking them. When symptoms start to reappear it can be difficult to get them back on track with their meds, because they start to believe everyone is conspiring against them or trying to poison them with the meds and hospitalization is often required.

Some of them can be very dangerous when in a phsycotic mode or delusional...they have been known to kill people they love the most.

They can be, but if they take their medication regularly they usually aren't. Not all people who don't take medication for it are dangerous. Depends on the person and their circumstances.

due to the symptom of hearing voices, i think that would make those people with schizophrenia more un predictable.

If the person is not on any type of treatment, counseling or meds, yes the person can be very dangerous.
