Seems to me that through the thousands of years that religion has developed through human history, there are very few supportable facts (if any) that have emerged to explain existence.

Quantum physics has taken flight basically with Einstein's work a little over a half-century ago. More and more, this science presents amazing - and provable - information concerning the universe. And it is beginning to unravel the mysteries of existence.

Why, then, do people hesitate to embrace science? Why do people choose religion? Some of the basic tenets of religion were laid down well over 5,000 years ago. Humans were bereft of scientific knowledge compared to modern day. How can their ignorant opinions be so widely accepted as truth?

Oddly enough Einstein strongly believed in God ...Nothing is
perfect. Neither science nor religion prove anything ...only modern day theories not facts.. .most people can't or don't want to understand physics and few are indoctrinated from youth as in religion... existence as with string theory is not really understood.
where did god come from where did the big bang come from ?
no-one really knows..besides what does science or religion have to do with morals... both preach death !!!!!!

The last I read quantum mechanics was more proving the existence of God than any other type of science. It's showing how subjective science really is and how much our own actions have an effect on the universe.

Quantum mechanics is unraveling Newtonian physics more than anything else.

Science and religion are two different techniques for looking at our world. Science looks at it from a physical viewpoint while religion looks at it from a spiritual viewpoint. Trying to determine which is "right" is silly, because both are necessary for a full understanding of our world.

On both sides of the issue, there are arrogant people who can see only their own viewpoint and call the other viewpoint ignorant, as you have done.

That said, as we learn more through science, it is becoming apparent that there is not nearly as much disparity as previously thought. For example, studies of the brain are providing clues about the nature of Adam and Eve, and why they are considered to have been created by God.

We are beings with both a physical and spiritual nature, and they require different ways at looking at things.

There are absolutely NO facts to support religion. That's why we call it faith: you have to believe in it without getting any proof.
Why do people still believe in it? I don't know, because I don't. But I guess lots of people don't think that science and religion are opposed. They believe that god created the universe, therefore god must have created the very subject of quantum physics.
Also, religion and the belief that one will be saved after death and that one is looked after are very comforting. Lots of people don't want to give up that comfort for the harsh reality of materialism.

I am a theist who does not practice religion...However, I used to so I can speak for the fundamentalist....

I know it doesn't make sense, but it is truly conditioning by their leaders....The people are dependent upon their religious leaders to teach them and keep them safe from coming judgments of their angry God....

It is fear based, and the more that science progresses, the more that religion, which is a culturally acceptable behavior, will probably lean toward being classified as mental illness. Because, like you said, It is not reality based.

You are trying to compare apples to oranges. Religion is a faith based spiritual guidance system, because no matter what science says, "something" (a higher power.....) created everything, and science will never figure that out :)

Because most people don't have the capacity to understand quantum physics and it scares them to know that things may not be 100% as they have been led to believe.
