it depend on where you want to go. If you want to go natural park and waterfall, october will be fine. Coz a few rain in december will make waterfall dry. Another thing is its not good to beach in October because of weather. You may stuck on the island.
If you want to go to beach, I suggest you to go in december. I think december will be better coz of cold weather. If you want to go to hot place like Ayuthaya, december wil be great.

Gotta agree with Todd - December is definitely the best month. October could still have some heavy downpours, plus the temperature is a lot more bearable in December. The only downside is that December is peak season precisely because it's the best time of year climate wise to come to Thailand

Yes, Oct. is a rainy month and Dec. and Jan, Feb probably the best time weather wise. The price may be a bit cheaper off season but it's not really going to matter that much. Thailand is very crowded with tourists in Dec, Jan, Feb......too many, it's really annoying. You people stop going there...I found it first! Sorry. Again, travel in high season may cost you a bit extra but it’s no big deal. Pick the time that works for you. Put on your happy face and relax into Thailand.

LOL.. please take my advice and disregard the previous two messages. OCTOBER is the worst month you can go. Sure it is less expensive... its MONSOON season. Its rains alomost everyday and the weather general is sticky and very uncomfortable. Early December the prices are still low. Hey, and lets face it, its Thailand, unless you are talking the holiday season the prices are always low. I have gone 4 times in my life. Twice in April , once in october, and once in early december. When I went in october in rained everyday. And I am not talking a passing shower, we had tstorms like 5 differant times during the day. The locals did say that october is the rainiest month, but that my time was worse then normal. But I would not go back in October again if I had another choice.
Bottom line, if you want decent weather to be a part of your vacation, go with early December. Prices are not at peak yet, and the weather is superb.

Definitely in October. That is when Thailand has their dry est month of the year and the most bearable temperature . Also, ticket prices are the cheapest in October as that is the off season for tourism. I vacationed Thailand in July. Ouch! Scorching Hot, but still had a blast in Bangkok.

I note the naysayers about October, but noting your comments, I'd still say October is best as long as you are not devoting long periods of time at Southern beaches.
I'll equivocate a bit to say that as long as you get your trip in before 15 December, you'll still enjoy the benefits of a bit of a "bridge season" during the December period.

October will be the non-peak period. Plus the wet season is tapering off so you will be getting drier season, which may be hot too. The cooler time is in December, also travel peak season.
