I got schizophrenia at age 14.

Your upbringing has nothing to do with it. Schizophrenia is a serious mental condition. It's mostly genetic. I have granparents on both sides who had it, and it was passed down to me. I had an excellent upbringing with wonderful parents. It is correct that not all people who suffer from this illness are a threat, there are those who are docile. Paranoid schizophrenia is the most severe though, and people who suffer from it are more likely to become hostile and violent. But yes, there is hope.There are lots of people who live with the illness and are leading normal lives. I know I am. I'm back in college, I have 4 kids and a grandbaby.And right now life is good!

Not all schizophrenics are hopeless Bobby...some are vey docile..it really depends on the circumstance surronding their upbringing...will check out the magazine...maybe I will learn something. Thank you
