Im 13, I watch all the most voilent graphic movies around, I don't see any problem with it, do you?
I am 13 years old, I have seen about every new horror movie since 2003 there possibly is.

Many parents wont let their kids watch rated r or 18A films because of voilence, profanity and sex.

I see no problem with this, when I go to my dads every weekend we rent a movie (my choice) and we watch it which must be rated 18A or higher because I like the gory entertainment.

My favorite movie right now Is the Devils Rejects by Rob Zombie. If your a horror/crime movie fanatic this is a must see for sure, but make sure you saw house of 1000 corpses first =)

Here are alot of other good horrors I enjoyed that you should all check out.

Hostel
the hills have eyes
the descent
house of wax
2001 maniacs
dead and breakfast
wolf creek
silent hill
texas chainsaw massacre (2003)
house of 1000 corpses
Santa Sangre.
High Tension

I cant name em all right now but those are for starters lol.

I grew up watching Nightmare on Elm Street, Hell Raiser, and Friday the Thirteenth. But my dad and I made a game of making fun of the actors or guessing who would get killed next and how. We usually laughed throughout the whole movie and even at 7 I wasn't scared of them. That's one of my best memories with my dad : ) The only movie that ever scared me was a kids movie The Dark Chrystal and I was 6. My dad made me touch the TV to show me it wasn't real. I don't think there is a problem as long as a parent teaches kids what is real and what is fantasy. I'm 24 now and I haven't ever suffered from it or grown up delinquent.

I've only seen 'the hills have eyes' and some scenes were really too disgusting. (I do hope you've watched the censored version where these have been cut). One of my friends (26) was actually sick. It's not that I'm conservative and I don't have a sense of humour and appreciate certain types of 'entertainment' - the movie was indeed kind of grotesque funny. However, it was intolerably long, boring and most of all - stupid, extremely stupid. I'd highly Not recommend it to any of my friends (teens or older) and the problem is not so much 'violence, profanity and sex' (although it would be considered a problem by many), the problem is that you are wasting your time being brainwashed...
Whatever... Go ahead! Kids do seem to enjoy indulging in stupidity on the way of becoming GWB's electorate. In a few years you'll start reading Cosmopolitan, I guess...
Hm... why did I decide that you are a girl?...

I used to think the same way...but it really does have an effect. You may not be the next SAW II guy/gal, but you have become somewhat numb to the horror and violence. You may find you need that shock factor to enjoy a movie/entertainment. You may fail to see the beauty in other things.

When you take a break...like six months from violent/horror movies -- and throw the nightly news in too -- and then just watch something...you can tell it's more bothersome to you than it was six months prior. That's the numbing effect it had on me.

Now that I'm married and am a Dad, I understand that more than ever and deperately guard my kids against it...our society is full of violence, hatred, and horror. And when I get the urge to watch it, my wife reminds me..."It may be true, it may be real...but do you think the Lord wants you to fill your mind with it and be entertained?" Humbly, I say, "No."

Some kids can handle those types of movie. You for instance seem to enjoy those movies and so therefore probably don't have nightmares afterwards. Think of it this way, a lot of adults watch those movies because they can handle them, and a lot of adults still get scared and have nightmares. It really depends on your own preference. If you deal well with seeing things like that, then more power to you. However you have to careful to remember what is movie and what is real life. Don't let those movies warp your mind and make you a more violent person. I personally wouldnt want my child to see all those movies. But I can see watching several lower level gore movies when they are your age. But you have to be able to be mature so you dont try to do the things in the movie.

Every experience you have becomes a part of your personal reality. If you are exposed to a lot of beauty, you look for and find more beauty in the world. If you have had traumatic experiences, they become part of you and change how you see things.

When you watch violent, movies with lots of gore, your nervous system reacts and releases chemicals in your brain. Basically, you are learning to be violent or afraid. The instinct it operates on is very primal. It's called the "flight or fight" instinct. It's very stimulating, which is why you like it. But it also has lasting effects on what you see as the potential of real life situations.

The younger you are when you see these movies, the less first hand experience you have to balance it. So it winds up shaping who you become much more than if you were, say middle-aged.

I know that nothing I can say will convince you that these movies are harmful to you. But if you find yourself being jumpy when there's no real reason to be, try cutting back on them. Definitely your parents should know better.

No. I don't see any problem with a 13 year old watching such movies. As long as the parent's aware what their kids are watching. And as long as the kid knows that it's just a movie and stays it that way. Just for entertainment. Who knows, you might end up directing your own horror movie someday!? ;)

Even I wont see half those movies and I'm 23!!!! I was 8 when I first saw Nightmare on Elm Street... mind you I couldn't put my hand under my bed for a month but that's me!!! Some people are sensitive to what they see... some people like you seem to be are desensitised to the violence portrayed and some see it for what it is... entertainment!!!

Maybe I am old fashion, but for some kids seeing something means it is OK for them to do it.
If nothing else they tend to desensitize people to the real horrors of life that are happening all around us. Which I think is bad.

I think as long as the parents are there to explain and answer questions 13 is a okay age supervised though

Everyone reacts differently to the same stimuli. You must be level-headed. Some kids aren't so well adjusted to begin with.
