They are only a deterrent for a very few. These kids need to have respect for themselves and for their community. An ASBO seems to give them respect in the wrong community. We all like to achieve and I wonder if kids who get an ASBO feel a sense of achievement. If they do them it is the wrong type of achievement.

no they arent, i have heard many of the people in the area i live bragging that all they got was an asbo

they are using it as some sort of badge of honour, they are still in the area causing the trouble they got the asbo for in the first place

nah, better to put naughty kids in the docks like they used to in medieval times, have a security officer keep charge obviously. But stocks humiliate people, asbo's just make little c#nt's show off even more.

Apparently not; I don't live there but I listen to the BBC and it sounds like the system is just more paperwork, but with little effect.

no they are not. I work with plenty of young people that have them and they are know seen as a status symbol amongst friends. very few young people adhere to them and when they are caught vert little happens to them...... i wouldnt call that a deterrant

Not really - it's just another stupid 'badge of honour' that kids can brag about to their mates.
