My fiance was diagnosed with a grade 2 glioma and was told that it may have been there for at least 15 years. I'm afraid I can't offer any explanation better than what we were told when he was diagnosed....."sometimes these things just happen ......." A tumour is basically a growth and we are led to believe that scientists do not understand all the ins and outs of it. However, sometimes these things can be genetic depending on the type of tumour so it may be worth looking into.

your medullary stalk runs down a medullary cavity and down the spinal cord and is surrounded by bone marrow. Your red blood cells, as adults are risen from bone marrow. This is why the cancer can spread to your body. The RBCs can run through your body with the cancer cells. If it has not gone further, and it is situated around the stalk, its technically out of the brain, but still situated near it.
