I've thought about it but I have a problem parting with my long hair.

I love donating things that can help people. I have considered donating organs, but keep them incase one day God Forbid a close friend or family member might need one. I will and do donate blood.
I do not donate hair because if baldness is truly hereditery, I'm going to need every last strand (lol, no sorry that was meant to be funny, I have not donated hair because I truly did not think it was possible and thought wigs for cancer patients were made from synthetic hair). But that truly is a tantalizing thought since I get my hair cut very very often (I like to keep near bald)/ I also have very thick hair so it bothers me, I guess its much better than simply having it thrown away.
Good on You.

Unfortunately, I have very fine blonde hair that splits at the ends. I have to keep it trimmed, even though I wear it long. My daughter, however, has hair from her father's family and it is both dark and is not as fine. She has donated her hair for cancer patients' wigs. They don't want my hair because I use a color on it to enhance the natural blonde and the split ends.
It seems to me like they could still use some of my hair to make a wig, even though they would have to trim the ends. They told my daughter that it takes about three donations to make one wig. Luckily, she has pretty dark brown hair, so it's not hard to blend it with other donations.
Why can't they make short bobs with my blonde hair?

You actually don't have to always have virgin hair to donate! It can take between 4-10 ponytails to make one wig, so more than likely they are dyed to match anyways. I just donated 14 inches last week to Wigs for Kids! Great cause...and I got a free haircut at an upscale salon too :)

Yeah, i think of it became Locks for romance. I did while i became 4, back while i became 8, and then while i became 9 or 10 i think of. BQ: Stick immediately =/ BQ2: Brown yet a number of the advice and 2 streaks are blonde from as quickly as I dyed my hair a longgg time in the past. BQ3: Eh, extraordinarily good i assume. must be greater appropriate, besides the indisputable fact that it does not suck. Edit: Wow, i think of i'm the 1st answerer that mentioned I even have donated. I even with the undeniable fact that greater human beings did this...

Yes, I've considered doing it. I haven't done it cuz you need a minimum amount of hair, 10 inches. I've not been able to grow my hair long enough to have the minimum amount to donate, plus some to keep for my own head! If I cut off the 10 inches, I'd be bald.
How long has it taken you to grow your hair back? You've got me thinking about doing it afterall. It might not be bad to have a pixie hair cut. :)

My husband donated 15 inches of his hair to Locks of Love. He was tired of it being so long. He went to a salon that cut his hair for free when he donated the hair.

I have donated but just the few inches of my hair to help the oil spill in Guimaras, Philippines. Hair can help clean the oil from the sea. Many of us here in the Philippines have donated some even got bald... even the prisoners. This is what I love here... many are willing to help.

My daughter did it some years ago , and it is nice to know that she has helped someone that for whatever reason did not have hair. It is JUST hair it will grow back so if it is long enough why not do something good for someone else.

tons of people donate their hair. as a stylist...i've cut many ponytails off...even within the last year. for locks of love...you'll need at least 10 inches.
some celebrities have done this recently also. so....be proud of yourself. you've done a wonderful thing!!
