Answer his questions specifically (do not embellish). In most cases this will satisfy an 11 yo. Explain to him that the child comes out the birth canal or by caesarian section when the child is ready to be born. He does NOT need pictures of a baby being born (that can be traumatic) but anatomical drawings of the female body will help in the explanation (check Barnes & Noble, or the library for pictures). If he has more questions, again answer them specifically and stop. He'll ask again when he has more. Keep the lines of communication open.

I'm surprised that he waited til he was eleven. My daughter asked me that when her first grade teacher got pregnant and had a baby. I went to the library and got some books and used them to illustrate in a very non sexual way. Now your son is 11, so he might be ready for something a lil bit more detailed than showing pics of puppies and flowers, lol. Regardless the library might be a good place to start doing the research for the right tools!! Good Luck!

Your son is 11 and will probably learn this at school. There are books that explain the process. He is most certainly old enough to know the truth. Might as well tell him before someone gives him misinformed information.

most fifth grade classes have sex ed. Im sure hes ready to know if he's asking questions. Tell him the truth. There are 11 year olds out there having sex and having babies already. Unless your son is very sheltered. (which is a good thing in this day and age) I am sure he already knows, hes just pullin your chain.

Tell him the truth. Call your local hospital. They usually have videos you can rent or sign out for this purpose. If not have him watch one of the shows on TV. There are many to choose from and are done tastefully, but you can still see where baby comes from. Good Luck!

Tell him that God made a very special place for babies to be born, and that when he is older that he will find out where that special place is. Or that Gods special place will open up just the right size for the baby to come out, and he will be born.

Good for him! (you should have explained this long ago, though). Give him a basic anatomy lesson, and answer his questions honestly.
