They're not a by-product, chickens lay eggs every single day, it just comes at their monthly time too. And yes I'd still eat them, what we eat is INSIDE the shell. Besides, you came from your mother's "downstairs" so you shush.

In the oviparous animals (all birds, most fishes, amphibians and reptiles) the ova develop protective layers and pass through the oviduct to the outside of the body. They are fertilized by male sperm either inside the female body (as in birds), or outside (as in many fishes). After fertilization, an embryo develops, nourished by nutrients contained in the egg. It then hatches from the egg, outside the mother's body. See egg (biology) for a discussion of eggs of oviparous animals.

The egg cell's cytoplasm and mitochondria (and chloroplasts in plants) are the sole means of the egg being able to reproduce by mitosis and eventually form a blastocyst after fertilisation.

yeah, I just don't think about it while I eat the eggs

besides so much of the food we eat contains eggs
so I'd have to give up a lot of food in order to never
eat an egg again !

take care

Like the old joke of a Brit in the East.

He comes down to breakfast at his hotel and asks the waiter "what's good".
Waiter "Well we have just taken a delivery of Bird's nest and our chef is renown for his Bird's nest soup".
Brit " No way, do you know where bird's nest comes from, it's bird's spit".
"Just give me some eggs and a glass of milk".
