Chocolate contains endorphines and is a natural aphrodisiac (along with oysters and strawberries). Basically it makes you "feel good" inside. Not all people like chocolates though, many people are allergic.
Besides chocolate comes in a variety of flavors! Mocha (coffee with chocolate), caramel chocolate, peanut butter with chocolate, white chocolate, milk chocolate, dark chocolate (the most natural and healthy out of all that is processed), and it fits to the taste buds of almost everyone. Even for a person whom doesn't like sweets can enjoy dark chocolate.
If you're not allergic, have a piece, and you'll know why people like them once you get that tingly feeling at the back of your throat (hopefully that's happiness and not an allergic reaction!).

Chocolate contains small quantities of anandamide, an endogenous cannabinoid found in the brain. one would need to consume several pounds of chocolate to gain any very noticeable psychoactive effects; and eat a lot more to get fully stoned. Yet it's worth noting that N-oleolethanolamine and N-linoleoylethanolamine, two structural cousins of anandamide present in chocolate, both inhibit the metabolism of anandamide. It has been speculated that they promote and prolong the feeling of well-being induced by anandamide.

because chocolate is sweet. People can be addicted to chocolate. Yet another myth. Chocolate cravings can seem overpowering at times, but chocolate is not a habit-forming drug after the manner of heroin or cocaine.
