I love the taste,but mostly the fond memories of my precious grand mother making them ,while we chat about seemingly nothing.That turns out to be more profound with every passing year.

The chicken, the broth, the dumplings. I can eat a whole plate full for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It is my favorite meal and has been since I was a little girl.
However, I can not stand to eat Chicken and Dumplings made with refrigerated canned biscuits. The dumplings need to be homemade, rolled out and cut, then dropped into the hot broth.

To me it's the mystery of them and the mystic skill that some people have in their success in turning out dumplings and biscuits that Betty Crocker would die for! To me it's also the surprise you get when you taste a well made dumpling ( in other entrees as well as chicken )

I love the taste of chicken dumplings but I don't prepare it often because of the calories....
What does this particular food bring in my mind?
My niece and nephew when they were little children and I was preparing it for them.
I miss these moments so much...

My mother was a fantastic cook in her younger days...
I would put her up against any chef...
Although now that she is too old and living in a nursing home,
I will surely miss all her great meals she used to cook, like chicken and dumplings...
She used such big plump fat noodles and only the white breast meat of the chicken...
And oh those biscuits...MMMMMMM...
It surely made the house smell good, even from outside before you walked in...
I will miss her meals from now on...

I don't think I have ever had them, but they sound great! I like the steamed dumplings you get from the Chinese restaurants, are they what you are talking about?

Talk about comfort food! Better than chicken soup, and as another person said, the magic Nanny used to make them for me. I have never been able to duplicate hers!
