Hi there...boric acid (aka BORAX) is very effective at killing fleas in the home as is safe as well. Boric acid kills fleas both by causing dehydration and by acting as a stomach poison to them yet won't harm humans or pets.

Borax can be purchased at any hardware store. Here are a couple articles about it and how to use as well: http://www.seedsofknowledge.com/fleas.html

Do the same things again, only all at once. Meaning, as soon as you can reenter the home, do the laundry. If a few fleas hide and live, they will keep making new fleas. And be sure you are using enough of them for the house, that doors and cabinets are open. Get a professional if need be to spray inside and outside. Obviously, check your pets.

ortho home pest control best stuff on the market use twice the first month and once a month after, for ever. mainly because flea eggs can take up to a year to hatch.
it keeps the rest of the pests away too vacuuming with a moth ball inside the bag &
removing the bag to an outdoor trash barrel after every use till fleas are gone helps by keeping newly hatched fleas from overcoming your carpets again.
also if you have an indoor/outdoor pet you may want to spread diaznon in your yard once a month

any of the foggers with pyrethrin in it and of course you should treat the pets at the same time. Remember, it is usually the human that brings the fleas home, not the pet.

Talk to the vet and see what they suggest. Let them know the measures that you've already tried.
