hi i am a nurse this could be fluid on your knee, which causes pain and discomfort, or you could have simply have twisted it, if it is fluid depending on the severity of it sometimes hospital treatment as an in-patient is necessary, or your doctor might just tell you to wear a knee support

I've previously had problems with the popliteus, the little muscle that controls the cartlidge in the back of the knee - talk about painful! I tore mine whilst kung-fu kicking.
You have a problem which your doctor will be REALLY useless in dealing with. You need to go to a good physiotherapist, look in the yellow-pages.
Good luck.

sounds just like my knee, accept mine grinds as well.
after waiting 1 year to see a specialist and another year for an exploration of my knee i was told i had early signs of arthritis. that was 8 years ago. my knee is still the same and has not got any worse. except in cold weather.

Depends on how old are you. but in general try to keep you knee warm, use some worm pads and do some gentle exercises (stop if you feel pain).
Make sure that you get more than one doctor's opinion because knees are really sensitive.
Good luck

i had something similar, there was a kind of click in my knee when i bent it, although you couldn't hear it, just feel it and it hurt. It just came seemingly out of nowhere. Doc just gave some anti-inflammatory (dicoflenac or somethin) and it went away after a while.

not sure what the problem might be, but last time my right shoulder used to dislocate alot. since eating glucosamine and chondrotin pills, it became better. u can try that too. drinking more milk could help too. in the mean time, do take care!
