I and my 24-year old girlfriend were in restaurant. She was chewing a gum. She told me that to swallow a chewing gum isn't dangerous at all because it goes in her stomach and then comes out and laughed. Then she took her chewing gum back to her throat and made a gulp and swallowed her chewing gum. The gum slided down her throat and was gone . . . She told me that she swallowed her gum whole, it was in her stomach and couldn't feel anymore. She laughed and said that the chewing gum is in her tummy now. She told me not to worry about it and added that she likes to swallow cherry pits and sometimes when she is on a lazy mood and don't want to take a cherry pit out she simply swallows it and sends to her stomach so there is no need to find a place for a cherry pit . . . She even don't have a stomachache . . .What will happen to the chewing gum or the cherry pit in my girlfriend's stomach? How much time will it be harmlessly in her tummy? When will she begin digesting it?

She likely won't be digesting either the gum or the pit. It won't be in her "tummy" long enough. It'll pass as all things eventually do.

You shouldn't worry about her swallowing gum or seeds, people can actually swallow a whole lot of weirder things and pass them. I've heard of people swallow anything from pennies to wedding rings and just passing them (You should go to the doctor if you enjoy swallowing metal though) I remember when I was a kid other kid used to say that the gum would stick to my heart and eventually keep it from beating. LOL Now that I'm older and have a better understanding of the digestive system I know that's impossible and anything you swallow that can not be digested....well lets just say it like this......what goes in, must come out.

It's very unlikely she'll digest them at all. The stomach is an amazing organ, and will coat the objects and they will exit her digestive track in tack. I've often eaten grapes and swallowed the seeds as well as watermelon(everyone has). seed which are dangerous are small seeds like pepper seeds, etc. Often they will end up in the lining of the stomach and can cause trouble.
As she gets older she will find that swallowing seeds and guy could cause an irritation in her bowels leading to hemorrhoids or some other problems.
I love the pits of seeds but they really should be chewed.

As they say, " this too shall pass". Anything that you take in will either be digested or pass thru the digestive system and passed out as waste.

The only concern I have is that eventually, the cherry pits could cause irratation in the stomach or intestine.

someone asked my science teacher that and my teacher said itll be digested no matter what becaue your stomach doesn't know its not food. so your stomach just digests it. ya know ? and thats from my science teacher. and she was the best teacher ever so i believe her. lol its not harmful. its perfectly fine her stomach will just digest the gum like regular food and shell ... ya know go to the bathroom and itll come out in her... poop. thats what happens. its never gonna hurt your stomach don't worry.she begins digesting it as soon as her stomach digests the rest of the food in her stomach. because you think your stomach is like WOAH A PIECE OF GUM AND A CHERRY PIT? no its just like hey theres something in here lets digest it. =) makes sense.

Cherry Pits contain a form of Cyanide. So she could possibly die if ingesting to many.
