For once, Sara, I can say: RIGHT right back at you!A totally innocent person wouldn't recognize evil if it were right in front of her---that's why total innocents need so much protection from the world.

And very few of us are "total innocents." The potential for evil resides within each one of us. (Just so long as I don't call that phenomenon "original sin," I'm sure most in R&S would agree with me.)

Crime-fighters have to think like criminals so they can apprehend criminals. It's a paradox, but the more one knows and understands evil--in a sense, carries it within--the more useful one can be in predicting, preventing, and stopping it in others.

For me to exist and love as Jesus loved me - I must not see others through my eyes, but rather the eyes of Jesus. He is the mirror of which we are to look at others. If we look at others through his eyes, we are free not to condemn or judge. We would rather judge ourselves so that we are not judged by others. I see the world as a lost place until we, who are Christians, get up off our backsides and witness the love of Jesus as He instructed us to do so that they, too, will be saved. And when you have a changed life, the evil which does exist can be separated from that which is good. Just think about it. If the whole world was changed and love was the ruling factor, the devil would have no charge over us. There would be no evil in the world - everybody would be trying to do good unto others. Be blessed.

I just think that there is nothing good 100% and nothing evil 100%. Everything is somewhere in between. It is us who see only the evil in a thing or the good in another thing. We experience a bad habbit which is 'expecting the worst' of something..

Attention: "crash" movie spoiler!

Do you remember that scene in the movie crash? When the black man had a free ride with the cup and attempted to put his hand in his pocket to show the cop something. But the cop feared the man would pick up a gun and kill him so he killed him first.... Earlier the cop proved to be a "good" man, but now he has seen "evil" in the other man which did not really deserve it.

I think so. Else wise how could good people let bad things happen. When it gets right down to it it is amazing what each of us is capable of. Good or evil. Reminds me of a story about a demon and an angel having a conversation. They were complimenting each other on what fine creatures God had made of each. The angel says to the demon 'What an amazing thing God has made of you, so pure in your malice!" The demon replies " My no, you are the amazing creature, so pure in your goodness!" Then both gaze onto earth and exclaim "God has made man the most wonderful creature of all, both our gifts and reproduces at will!" That's us all right, duality incarnate; and more of us everyday.

The lady at the zoo who attempted to pat the Polar Bear
She did not see the Danger there.

In 2 weeks when she awakened to her suprise she saw,
The Polar Bear had broke her jaw.

Sometimes people see what they see because it is there.

Only the vigilant are truly free.

Is this one of those "New Age" touchy feely bogus philosophies? Kind of sounds like it. Hitler was evil, not because I saw him that way, but, because he was. The terrorists are evil, the ms13 gang is evil. If I die tomorrow, these facts reamain. I don't know where you get your philosophy, but you have definately lost touch with reality. With your kind of belief, child molestation is ok. I have seen this garbage taught before, and that is all it is, inane garbage.

No, you don't have to be something to see what it is--are you a tomato? Do you have to have a trash can inside yourself to know where to toss your kleenex?

We interpret what we experience based on past experiences. Have you had someone or something define evil to you before?

A very clever guy I know told me a story:

A man is unhappy wherever he goes. He doesn't like the way people or the places they live in smell. He dislikes particular groups of people because they smell funny. Their houses smell funny. They smell funny.

One day, a wise man knocks on his door.

"I hear you think everybody smells funny?"

"What of it?" says the man

"Shave your beard off, and stop eating cheese. The smell's coming from under your own nose."

How we see and judge others is often a product of our own faults rather than theirs.
