the high you get by drinking from wine is different from rum, whiskey, brandy, vodka etc. Why that is?

Mainly due to difference in the alcohol content.
It is the age of the wine which determines the KICK or the HIGH that you are referring to.
It is fermentation that is taking place in the wine bottle and older the wine better it tastes , and of course it does not smell like any other synthetic based alcoholic drink.
And a good wine will burn a sizable hole in your pockets

It isn't.
The effects of all alcoholic drinks are largely the same, assuming the same alcohol intake.
If you drink the same volume of wine as you would spirits then you will get a different effect due to itonly being about 1/3 the strength.
But that's the only difference you will get

God gave man wine to increase our joy and to ease our sorrows. It's when you over indulge that you get into trouble. As for why it's a different kind of high,I would have to say it was something to do with the complex carbon chains formed in the fermentation process.
