Hi Carolin...some cats need a few days to adjust to their new homes as they are quite nervous/scared. Have a little patience and be sure to keep the food nearby so she can find it.

I think it's just too scared at the new place. My kitten did not eat at all for three days, and hardly ever came out from under the bed at all - but he's great right now. I used to have food left out for him all the while - kitten dry food, at the time (I have since switched to canned food, but what did I know back then?)/
Just make sure she has access to fresh food - not necessarily any great quantity, you can add more when she starts eating - and fresh water, and the litterbox.
I would not advise giving milk to your cat, because many cats are lactose-intollerant, meaning that milk is not really good for them. But you may add a dab of single cream at one corner of the food bowl, just to attract your kitty's attention to the article.
If the cat still hasn't eaten in a couple of more days, though (up to three days without food is not overload for a cat's organism), you may consider asking the previous owners if she had any eating problems, just to be on the safe side - and maybe consider devising some _gentle_ ways to involve the cat in your life, showing her attention and love, so that she will relax and overcome her fear. If she still doesn't show interest in food... maybe call to the vet should be in order.
Good luck!

Could be she oes not like the type of food try a little sardines... You'll have total sucess...
Also, I helped a cat once lost in an empty apartment.... She hid so well the owners coul not find her...but they posted all the signs of lost cat around the complex.... I found the cat when I went to clean the apartment.... she was so puzzled... anyway I saw the sign... called her by her name... put her in my car brorth her home with my 8 other cats then.... She wouldn't eat...
Called the owners.... they tol me that she ONLY eats from an ALUMINIUM METAL bowl... I couln't believe it....
They ha moved 300 miles away... , but ha a friend who pick up the cat 3 days later to bring it to the owners.. Happy end of story...
She was a house cat... anyone else could have simply kicked her out without care... and she would have then became a stray, by accident.... The owners where young and never told to move the cat out first.... She simply did not respond for an hour and they left thinking she had ran outside....
They could not believe my story... Lucky cat to have found me...lol.... I was very happy to help her... she was a nice female Tabby and I knew right away that she was a house cat... Was very happy to ear that she was not abbandonned at all... They posted several papers near the appatment... Wiskers!!!
Happy story....
Good Luck....

just leave some food out for her and when she is hungry and secure enough with her surroundings she will eat. make sure she is drinking water, don't want her to get dehydrated.
Don't listen to people telling you to give her milk, that is a BAD idea because cats are lactose intolerant.
What are you feeding her? best to start off with what the cat had been use to eating. then after some time you can switch to some quality food since I'm sure that what was being fed at the shelter or at the pet store or where ever wasn't quality food. if the first ingredient on the ingredients list on the package is corn or something to do with corn, stay far away from it. cats need meat to be the first ingredient for proper nutrition and for them to be healthy. I recomend natural choice complete care indoor formula

I have a dog that did that when we first got him , most likely its the shock of drastic shange in their lives. Bindi(my dog) still wont eat sometimes if we change somthing like the time we feed her every day. You could also try giving the cat a little meat in with her dry food. this will give her a bit more incentive to eat.
hope this helps!

Be thankful she hasn't OVEReaten. A new home is very stressful to any animal, so she'll eat when she's comfortable enough to. When we first brought our first cat home, he sort of nibbled all day....then barfed all over later that night from nervous stomach.

She could be nervous as she is not yet used to you, or maybe frightened. Give her lots of love & cuddles & see if she starts to eat after a while. However, if this continues, you MUST take her to the vets to get her checked out.

If you want to take the trouble, call and find out what she ate previously and try to prepare some for her. A familiar food should help.

dont force her to eat carolin.
keep some milk and leave it to her.
when she drinks, slowly put ur fingers on her head and touch her softly.
u know every cat thinks high of itself. we need to go behind them to show our affection towards them.once over, they will be very much affectionate towards us atleast untill their hunger is over.
