my 7.5 also stopped working, i contacted microsoft and got instructions from them on how to sort it,this included deleting 7.5 from my system. so having followed their instructions (and having no success) i am left with no messenger . when the error message comes up it says reason " WINDOWS\system32\advpack.dll " is it possible to replace this file? i do not have a xp pro disk as it came pre-installed on my laptop.

Solve all your woes by dumping Microsoft all together, install a sensible OS instead.

Hey uninstall MSN Messenger 7.5 and download a fresh copy of Windows Live Messenger from here http://get.live.com/messenger/overview
