A psychologist is one who has done B.A. or M.A. or B.sc Psychology. Psychiatrist is a M.B.B.S with specialising in Psychology.If it is just a mental stress out then I suggest a Psychologist coz many of the Psychiatrists dump us with drugs. And psychiatry drugs r extremely powerful and have severe side affects. Go to a psychologist and if in case they feel the problem needs more than counselling and talking they'll suggest a Psychiatrist themselves.

There is no better or worse, between a psychologist and a psychiatrist. The difference is minor, it's even unoticable. Many times a person is both an psychiatrist and a psychologist. The main difference is that a psychologist is specialized in helping his patient understand his feelings, overcome them if necessary. A psychiatrist focuses on "healing" the patient's "soul" (from the greek word "psyche"). A psychiatrist often deals with mentally disturbed/unbalanced people, while psychologist deals many times with people who have just problems with their feelings. A Psychologist is a professional who studies behavior and experience, usually either licensed to provide therapeutic services to the public or working in an academic setting... And a Psychiatrist is a doctor trained in the treatment of people with psychiatric disorders... So it really depends on the situation..
