I was in Marmaris last week, arrived back last night so thanks to all above joking about the bombings, i'll come to that later.

Prices vary place to place just like here, you need to shop around depending on what you after.

Prices for drinks on the main drag are a bit cheaper than the Uk, some places a lot cheaper but they add a little water to the mix.

I was drinking local beers at 70p a pint.

Food is good value, you can eat in a decent restraunt for £15 each or less.

Clothes very cheap especially designer copies are there are no laws over there, you can get 5 t-shirts for £10 and jeans for £5.
It can be an incredibly cheap place to stay if you go to the right places.

The latest from Marmaris is things were a little quiet the day after the bombings, especially on the night but things were soon back to normal so there are some bargain to be had.

Thomson has 4* hotel for £59 at the moment, i can recommend the Grand Ideal or Club Candan both in Marmaris.

Bodrum/Bitez and Gumbert are a bit more expensive than Marmaris and i think have less to offer.

If you do go to Marmaris, you MUST go to TEPE restaurant at least once on the hillside, it's next to Aqua Dream water park.
Save all your money if you have to just to eat the best food and over looking Marmaris at night all lit up, just an awesome place.

I was less than 1/4 mile from the bomb on the bus but it will not stop me from going back to this fantastic country, been there 3 times this year.

How long is a piece of string?!

If you eat in tourist resorts the prices are generally half or even 1/3 of UK prices. In posh restaurants in Istanbul they can be top London prices! If you go outside the tourist areas, you'll not only get the authentic local stuff but you pay so little you'll be embarrassed.

Drinks? Beer cheap (I'd say well under £1 pint), wine not so cheap, local spirits (raki, local gin/vodka/brandy/etc.) very cheap, imported spirits very expensive.

Yes i was in Istambul in June 2006.
Turkey is much less expensive than Europe
A lunch or dinner with cola would not cost beyond
6 Euros to 8 Euros per person in modest clean
resturant for one person
So bon appetite

When I went, it was an all-inclusive vacation package, so I'm not sure how the prices are if you have to pay separately, but it was really nice there.
