i dont know what has happened with trevor phillips although i do remmber him standing as a candidate for mayor of london. i think that essentially he is a politician which is what most public figures effectively become when they are in the public eye for a while. they have to negotiatate and vye with others for a position of power etc etc. in this sense i think it is appropriate to have a system of checks and balances on public bodies. not necessarily a hierarchical one with one comission on top of another, because here i agree with you - where will it end? i don't agree that we are all racist though - we can all be suspicious of others but it can be for anything, their accent, their clothes, the people they hang around with. we need to have that as part of ourown survival instinct.
to be suspicious can be fleeting but the worst level is prejudice. if someone is prejudiced because of someone else's social category e.g. race, that implies that they have a superiority complex and are unable to rationalise or otherwise open their mind to other possibilities. it would also appear that they are almost condoning the most awful acts that racism has caused e.g. apartheid, murders etc. if that were the case it seems they would be essentially shallow and tunnel visioned.
as i dont think all people are like that, no i dont think we are all racist - especially not you if you already hate everyone! you may have issues, butnot necessarily racist ones ;) the question you raise has more to do with political systems than race.

The reason why people are racists is because people tend to judge a population on the actions of a few. Its like the muslims. Because a few people it Britain bombed the country, all muslims are being labelled terrorists. That is wrong. When the IRA bombed the UK, were all Christains labelled terrorists? Was there such a word as Christian Extremism?? No there wasn't. People hate arabs, REMEMBER, Christianity, Judaism also started in the Arab world, and that JESUS and MOSES were also Arabs.

I agree. Racism knows no boundry nor does it flow in a single direction exclusively.
The PC Thought police would have you think that ALL discrimination and ALL racism runs in one direction, from Caucasians.
Besides that pesky Free Speech thing, wouldn't you want all sides to be heard, and have the free flow if ideas, escpecially the racists, so you could get a handle on just who they are?
(Remember it's only free speech if the PC crowd agrees with your viewpoint)

Racism is ignorance due to the lack of learning about other cultures , their ways, their beliefs, their customs. If you cannot accept that people are different due to alot of these factors plus a few ,more then your ignorance holds you back from being able to accept other for how they are and why they do what ever it is you personally wouldn't do. And hun if you hate everyone , your including yourself also, so try and seek some under standing of why you hate you first before trying to understand why you think all are racist!

Of course everyone is racist, to a degree! Its human nature! Yes,you are right, the whole situation is absolutely ludicrous!!Quite honestly, this Government is encouraging racism simply by telling us we cannot do certain things for fear of offending "others"! I have no desire whatsoever to offend anyone,I just want to be allowed to continue my way of life, traditions, culture, and so on,without interference from "others" or Government!!!!! Others that come to this country may wish to continue with their own cultures,so let them, but please do not say mine offends theirs! They have to accept ours, the same way I accept theirs. If they cannot, its THEIR problem, not mine!! As for this Government,I reckon, they have set up more commissions than the UN has resolutions, and that's something!!!!!!!!!
