Nearly all Christians believe that you must believe in Jesus Christ and acknowledge him as a prophet. I myself only believe in god and think the so called "prophets" were ordinary people or imaginary characters fabricated through fables. Is there any religion that simply believes in god and nothing else?

Yes, there is and the fact that Jesus was called a prophet was a Muslim belief. I know one religion but it isn't really called as RELIGION but called as a relationship with Christ. In this relationship you will not convert, but you need to accept Christ as your savior. It is simple and plain. You will only believe in Christ , have faith and him and be saved. The relationship i was pointing out was the Born-again Christian. You could try to go to one of their churches and maybe you would believe me. GOD BLESS YA!!

The Jews don't have said prophet yet, but they do have tales of magnificent encounters between god and man. Perhaps you would be interested in that. I personally think that if you just believe in God, than no religion is going to do it for you. They all have rules and restrictions, that's what keeps them going. I reccommend going it alone with God.

The objectives of religions are to control people so various guys have made up stories which suit their modes of control.
For example 'Christians' do not believe people should blow themselves up to kill people of other religions and certainly do not promise a large number of 'Virgins' in paradise if they do so.

Well, Deism is the belief that God created the universe, and the world, and has not intervened since then. Also, you could be an independent theist.

Islam is a religion that believes in One God. In Quran, it is written that "O Allah ! change my fear in my grave into love. O Allah !. Have mercy on me in the name of the Great Quran: and make it for me a Guide and Light and Guidance and Mercy; O Allah ! Make me remember what of it I have forgotten; make me know of it that which I have become ignorant of; and make me recite it in the hours of night and the day; and make it an argument for me O Thou Sustainer of (all) the world ! Amen!"

This is Islam which believes in God and in a very vivid terms.
