I want to buy a digital camera. The one I have is only 4mp and has the shutter speed of a snail which is useless when youre trying to take pics of kids.
I want a fast shutter speed, rechargeable batteries that you just plug in and 4+ mp, all for about £100.00, any ideas?

Realize that taking photos of young children, especially indoors, is one of the most stressing scenarios for any digital camera. It requires lightning quick autofocus and exposure. I've got a DSLR- a canon 20D at home, and even that's pushed to its limits.

Compact digicams are inherently slow to autofocus, although some of them are much faster than others. The best response times are those which can snap a picture in less than 0.3 seconds or so.

However- if you prefocus by holding down the shutter button half way, then waiting for the right expression- then press the button, you'll find it much much faster. The good thing about compact digicams is that they have huge depths of field. So that even if your child moves a bit between the time you focussed on him and the time you pressed the button, they'll still be in focus.

so- play with the camera you have, and see if you can make it work to your advantage.

There- you just saved 100 quid.

100 gbp is a very tight budget. You can probably find a few cameras that are better than you current model, but none that will do what you want in terms of responsiveness.
Actually, all digital point & shoot cameras are limited in this respect. This eventually led me to upgrade to a digital SLR.

Kodak C330 would probably do what you want, although prices may vary from retailer to retailer. They do use an SD card, so you may not have to buy a new memory card. as for batterys nimh rechargable would work fine, but this would cost an extra 20 pounds or so more maybe.
