It is not necessarily an indication of getting spectacles. Black spots appear when part of the back of your eye cannot receive the light from what you are looking at.

You need to visit a qualified optometrist ASAP. They will conduct a series of tests for which you need to prepare. They will put a liquid on your eye that will dilate the iris. Almost every optometrist I have been to, spills the liquid because it is tricky to put on the eye, so don't wear your best clothes, and be quick to mop up the spills as it stains everything yellow. Your irises will be dilated for a number of hours so driving a vehicle afterwards is dangerous and therefore not recommended.

There are a large number of reasons for the back of your eye being unable to receive the light. The worst reason (emotionally)is cancer, and the next is diabetes. In either case, the earlier it is diagnosed, the better the chances of curing or preventing further damage. Sorry to scare you but this is important.

Hi I wear glasses for almost 20 years. Yes I think you should go and see a doctor. Seeing a black spot is something very serious I think.
