I served 6 years in the Navy, and I would gladly re-enlist if the terrorists brought the war here. And I really hate to say this, but I'm kind of hoping they do. Maybe then all these people who are talking trash about our military will finally STFU, because we all know that if ANYONE tried to invade us on our own soil, it would be a bloodbath, and we would prevail. If you're not proud to be an American, then get the hell out.

Ready and willing, (and prepared in terms of skill and resources)but not hoping for it like some sort of backwoods "Militiaman".
We will most like.likely not see the "Red Dawn" type of thing at home. We are too powerful to hit head on. Any type of crisis of that magnitude will probably be coordinated and continuous terror incidents. And then who do you get your hands on to fight?
My first two fears would be the actions of our government, and then my own fellow citizens, then the enemy.
Look at the Katrina event and see how devastation and chaos can bring out the absolute worst from our society, at a moments notice.
Do you expect people who cannot make it without govt support on a good day, to buck up & get going in a crisis?
A number (a significant one) of law enforcement and civil service personell abandoning their posts.
Civil authorities confiscating legally posessed firearms, leaving individuals defenseless agaisnt bands of thieves , who the already overstretched police could not begin to protect them from.
There are many things to consider, in a military force landing on our shores, and the actual enemy actual gets about third place in my book.

Dont even think about it. Many americans have weopons at home and will use them if nesecery. And there is the military who will expand hevely if a threat materalize (as in second world war). Add to this the worlds largest economy who could be turned inte military building easaly. Its likely that any agressor would face a us invasion rather than a occupation of us teritorry. Johan

I pray that it never happens, but, HELL yeah I would. Whoever tries it better be prepared, and invade from the North, because every redneck here in the South has a cabinet full of guns (right?). Some of us old jarheads still know how to shoot 'em too, and can form up a small unit action.

If I were there, I'd get my kids to Canada or Mexico first, then, yes... I'd re-join the military. They'd probably have us in "Militia" groups... a group of civilians with one or two experienced military folks.

We have an organized military. I would work under their direction.
Why would someone expect to go it alone or in some kind of gang? Such people would be as much a threat as the external one.

I'm ready, and I would fight beside those who wear the uniform. (of course I used to wear one so it would be natural)
