How quick can dentists put braces on your teeth after extractions? I am having all 4 wisdom teeth out and 2 extra on top (the first molers on on each side) on thursday, me dentist said to come in on the monday and he will put the spacers in and the following thursday the braces! Doesn't that seem like too soon? only 4 days!

I told him that i didn't think 4 days was enough and he was like, you will be fine, it's plenty of time!

It's not too soon, but I do have one suggestion for you on getting your teeth pulled out:

as stupid as you may look, keep the damn ice packs on your jaws, even if you have to wrap a towel around your head. Trust me, it helps numb the pain and kills the swelling, so when you go in to have the spacers, it'll be easier to open your jaw. and take the pain killers religiously. i had my 4 wisdom teeth cut out and thought i was too cool for the ice packs at school, and i ended up being in serious pain for a few weeks after.

Hi.
Well I am currently on dental treatment, too. I had my 4 teeth extracted within 8 days and soon after the doctor had me wearing the metal retainer. It's no big deal once you start getting accustomed to it

The spacers were put immediately, while I had the braces on in about 5 days. 5 or 4, days , it is no problem.

You can wait if you like but no it's not too soon. The sooner you start the sooner you will finish. The only reason to wait until after extractions is the braces would get in the way of the extractions.

Well, I just got braces. I can tell you this. I first got spacers. I had them for a week. They are little rubberbands place between your back molars. After the week they take them out. Then I got my braces. It took about 2 hours. Then about 2 weeks after that I got a tooth extracted. So I would say about a week or 2 after you get your braces. hopes this helps!

Its not too soon, the spacers will leave a gap between ur molars to allow ugly metal crowns to be fixed around four of your molars, then ur orthodontist will glue metal brackets to each one of ur teeth, after that they will place a wire that will connect all of ur teeth together, finally they will place elastic bands(color optional) on ur brackets to hold the wire in place.I had braces put on at 13 and had them of by 15. PRACTICE GOOD ORAL HYGIENE WHEN U GET UR BRACES AND BE PREPARED TO HAVE AWFUL BREATH!!!!!!!!! GOOD LUCK

you may be a bit tender at first, but 4days is prob. the most time he can do it in before your teeth start pulling back in the oppisite direction that the braces have corrected!

you're going to be sore anyway, might as well get it all over with at once.
