Respecting other cultures means accepting the fact that they are different from yours and that it is not necessarily that yours is right and other cultures are wrong. There is nothing absolute. When it comes to culture of violence. You can not change the culture of other people. But you can help these people change it to a culture of peace. You can give them a space for self awareness and show them how they are experiencing violence in their daily life. And it is them who should decide to take an action to lead a peaceful life.

Unfortunately the blindness is usually towards our own culture .. more than one hundred deaths a day in an occupied territory from which industrial interests are producing oil reserves is exactly all three of those .. It is beyond the "green zone", and therefore beyond the lens of Western media just now .. but it is "sadism, torture and brutality" .. You should see this image before my eyes- an Iraqi girl .. perhaps six or seven .. terrified and crying beside the dead feet of her father .. How many of their people will need to die for them to receive our gift of "democracy" ...

First try to see the good aspects of the other culture, there is sadism, torture and brutality in every culture, its just to respect the good aspects of other culture, let us solve ours first and then tollerate the bad things of other culture. its easy to point fingers on others before looking on to ourselves. I am not blaming you but iam blaming myself first, and trying to give you a point to consider.

distinction is each unrepentant sinner in this international received't stay for more effective than 100?years. Prophet Muhammad saas stated .on the day of judgement Allah swt will placed someone who's already qualified for Paradise into Paradise for a second and and then ask him if he recalls any suffering / torture hardships contained in the international.he will be so extremely joyful after seeing his advantages he will ignore the worldly suffering and reply he didnt wade through any not ordinary deliver. further he will placed someone who's from the persons of hell and placed him for a second into hell and then ask him about the luxury amusement and leisure of this international he will reply no Ididnt relish something.and he will ignore all his mocking at Allah swt in this international and commence repenting yet that repentance wil haven't any fee and Allah swt will placed Angels ( who donot ever snort) who will torture them forever continually. Dont waste this powerful time mocking Allah swt and really use it for eternal happiness when you're smart sufficient.

nope... respecting other culture is respecting them. they were brought up, raised and educated in this manner. correcting it would only malign their respect for you and call you evil things. see, if you were raise in such tradition, then by chance, you traveled to another country and notice that their perspective differs with yours. one day they came and notify you that you have cause a crime but to you, haven't done any wrongdoing, wouldn't you be annoyed too? their cultural practice is theirs, yours is yours...
if there is a polite way of correcting it, proceed... but caution yourself. be careful not to trod it by insisting upon it. gradual guidance is the best approach. if you feel they're getting too quirky about it, then stop. else, the repercussions would only backfire on you and all you've done would go into waste...

i suppose respecting people's culture simply means acknowledging differences in beliefs and opinions. it doesn't necessarily mean adapting to it. of course, we need to respond to such unfavourable actions, cos apart from "respect for cultures", we also have something called "respect for life" which we all need to be aware of. peace.
