Us brits were responsible for some dire decisions and actions over the years as we expanded the empire. However genocide is not one of our claims to fame.
P.s
Black Hole of Calcutta was a small dungeon that British Troops were held in after Fort William was captured by the Nawab of Bengal in 1756, so an act against the brits not by them

Snowy hit the nail on the head. Our colonial wars were horrendous, but we didnt really take part in Genocide.
However, so many forget the colonisation of New Zealand. We drove the Maoi population into the ocean, surely that counts as a form of systematic killing? We invented the concentration camp, we put down the Indian Mutiney with a violence that still shocks today, we crused revolts in our own country with the sabre, such as the Bristol Riots...overall, not a proud history for us im afraid

When I was at school in Jo'burg (1970s) we were told that the British established concentration camps to destroy the boer nations. As it happens it was a lie. They did set up camps & lots of people died, but from disease & the Brits guarding the camps died at a similar ratio to those interned. The National Party did a good job of changing history, almost as good a job as the ANC. Now there's a bunch of genocidal maniacs for you.

Genocide is the systematic eradication of an entire race of people......so no I don't think we ever have.
We have been involved in some bloody colonial wars and like every nation have a mixture of things we can be proud of and not proud of but ever eradicated a nation or race......nope!
We fought the Nazis, our navy ended the slave trade, and we give home and hope to more refugees than anywhere else in europe.

There were many many casualties of the expansion of the British Empire. As far as I know though, there was never any wiping out of indigenous peoples in order to do it.
Like all empire-producing white people though, the British have committed their fair share of atrocities.

not on the scale of the nazi's or the russians, but in the boar war they first intrduced concentration camps, but no genocide there,at different times of the empire there were times when they committed a few atrosities like in australia with the aborigines,in china during the opium wars,in india, but these example were very mild in comparison to the nazis, russians, americans, french, spanish, portuguese, dutch, japanese,

In proportion, they did a lot of mistakes, like all other countries.
Australia, India, China....
In China was easy to find over the hotle's entrance, folowing sign:
"Not allowed Dogs and Chineses" Can you immagine that in your own country this kind of behavior?
But all belongs to different periods, different contexts. Its easy to judge German, Russians, USA, but reallity is darker. Its how our society moves from one standard to another.
Like judge England to use children and elders as a Slaves within their factories in late XIX. No conditions, plundering and killing -indirectly - people. There are no excuses about it, once Owners were aware about suffering and pain. They just choose kill.
You can consider also piracy within Caribbean region and Gold from Brazil trhough bad, bad, bad international contract between Portugal and England as a indirect "genocide" actions.
Piracy due killing and destroing entire cities and sinking many ships
Portugal due slavery and indians large killing during gold exploration.
Its possible also says when UK sold Chemical Weapons to Saddam Russeil in Iraq in early 80's. people knew what were about. Help to kill is the same to kill?
Does not matter number, but motives.
Each critical terrible situation belongs to a context; Says KILL wihtout understand WHY and HOW are a huge mistake. Judge without undertand difference between past and future and without try to learn good things that come from "taker" are antoher thing;
Its like to judge muslim people. (They are almost one third of the world and less than 3% are troublemakers - not by religion, but due business/political issues)
Past is a path to be know as a reference and do not forbbiden or judged. Learn god things from bad moments are a good way to live.

Yes i am ashamed to say. We gassed the kurds first back in the early 1900's. We also had the first concentration camps in South Africa in the 1800's i believe it was. An elderly German I once knew took great delight in telling me that fact.
