Nursing is an art because no one can learn it wholly from a book. It is an art because some creative thinking is needed for nurses. It is an art because one can not buy it exclusively with cash. It is an art because it has science religion and empathy mixed in it. It is art because one has to become a good "sister" without being born in the same family.

It's said to be an art in the way that medicine is an art.
There is rarely a definitive answer to any problem, be that how much fluid to give a patient, to how to insert a catheter, ar take so blood. Each patient is different, and the nurse needs to use his/her own skills to perform a certain task on the patient that is in front of them.
Art isn't exact, there is no formula, same as nursing.

Well, it's not all about procedures and training. Some aspects of nursing, just like an art, can't be taught. It takes a lot of skill to be able to artfully deal with patients, their families, and the physicans. There are just some parts of nursing that can't be learned from a textbook.

nursing is an art because you have the tools and the skills to help, care and teach your patients. You don't just go into work and do your job. This profession makes you give every patient a bit of you. One of a kind!
