My wife and I struggle with these same issues.

Maybe the question you should ask yourself is whether or not you need to diet. I think people's perspectives (especially women's) has been grossly perverted by Hollywood and fashion magazines. Some people are meant to be as skinny as a rail, others are not -- and in my honest opinion as a man -- both can be equally attractive! Attractiveness is 99% mental. You are only as attractive as you feel you are.

Leave dieting for the morbidly obese... Live healthy. Eat healthy. Get some exersize (a nice long walk on a sunny day once a day and perhaps some morning calasthenics is plenty - or join a low impact aerobics class). As far as what to eat - as Jack Lalanne once said, "If God didn't make it, don't eat it!"

You can't fight what nature intended you to be. This is why 80% of all dieting attempts fail. Dieting has been the cause of more weight INCREASE in the US than overeating by itself. Yo yo dieting (dieting, quiting, dieting, quiting) supercharges your body to gain fat faster and faster with each failed attempt. Nearly every diet out there is a gimmick to make money off you from the sale of books, tapes or devices.

All diets give you the disclaimer that they are intended to be "a lifestyle" It's a load of crap. Ofcourse that's true. But nobody can stick to those diets -- especially when you're having food pushed at you from every angle, every minute of the day, from every source of media.

You're better off to just try and live healthier -- stay away from bad food and watch your weight. If you're still gaining and it's getting to be a health problem, talk to dietician or a doctor. If it's starting to affect your metabolism, check into the laproscopic band procedure. I've seen it help people before.

If I'm forced to pick a specific diet, I like weight watchers as the instructors are required to have been extremely fat and lost it all by Weight Watchers... But I've quit that diet too... so none of them are infallable, but it's good to have a support group like Weight Watchers when dieting. It keeps you on track more than something self paced.

Eatin' "fat free" foods doesn't help. For one, it makes it where you're body isn't burning the fat. Doing the carb diets you're missing out on important things you need. You just need to cut back on eating. Start eating healthier. Eat all food groups.. I've even been told this.

But my cousin lost weight, over 150 pounds in less than a year with no exercise doin' "The Grapefruit Diet". But if you take certain medication, don't do it. Because some of it won't mix well with grapefruits.

do not do the diet thing..it is the worst thing you can do to your body by depriving it. maybe lower your fat intake, make healthier food choices such as buying skim milk vs. whole, switching from regular peanut butter to the reduced kind, eat more fiber, more greens, more fruits, and work out for 30 minutes a day to keep/maintain your body, but in your case try 45min-1hour. do not deprive yourself, but eat the foods the love only in smaller or moderate portions.

If you haven't tried totally cutting the carbs out of your siet, you should try. Shedding carbs from your diet will help you lose weight if thats what you are trying to accomplish.
