is it morally wrong to masturbate?

im a christian teenage girl and i wanna know if the bible says its wrong to masturbate. i hav already and it felt good but i felt so guilty also. i know theres peeps out there hu think its sweet and woteva floats ur boat. but can my fellow bros and sisters in christ gimme some scripture or something to show me whether they are right or not?!?

I think the fact that 90%+ of all people do it is an indicator that it's not a sin. In fact, a lot of people use this as a "replacement", as it were, for teenage, premarital sex, which gets a lot of teens into trouble. If people would do this instead of having promiscuous sex all the time, the world would a lot healthier place (you can't contract AIDS) and there would be less abortions & teen pregnancy.

The only thing I know of biblical on masturbation is when they talk about Onan. Forgive me. I forget the chapter and verse, but it is about how he is made to marry the wife of his deceased brother in order to produce an heir who would be considered as his brother's son. Instead old Onan pulls out and "spills his seed" because he isn't thrilled by the whole idea. Based upon this passage they come up with the idea of sex being loving (i.e. in marriage) and life giving. In other words no pulling out,let that rascal run free!! So technically it is wrong although I'm inclined to think God will be more forgiving of you wanting to do what comes natural as compared to going out and being a serial killer or something like that!! He wanted us to increase the species so if we're a little over enthusiastic about the whole idea it's His fault in the first place!!!:)

Darline....when I was a teen I struggled with the same question but I NEVER found anything in the Bible one way or the other. God created all things for good and playing with yourself is one of them.

It is good for you to know your own body so that when you are married you will be better able to articulate what you want to your husband. My lil bro's wife (as he tells me) never did play with herself and was a virgin when they married. As a result they have been having trouble in bed and neither is satisfied. If you and your future husband want to be happy you HAVE to get to know yourself and not be afraid of your body and sex.

By the way....all these nut jobs telling you if you feel guilt it's a sin are full of it. I feel a little guilty when I swat my daughters hand when she is reaching for an electric socket but I know that it is good for her. Don't feel guilty....it's good for you.

If it makes you feel guilty, it's a sin. The Bible has no prohibition against female masturbation and only a weak prohibition (the story of Onan) against male masturbation. If you are trying to base your actions on what is scriptural, you will pray constantly and know that God is always watching you and that your body is the temple of God.
But in truth, it is guilt that keeps your soul separate from God, so anything that makes you feel guilty is sinful.

Strictly speaking, it's frowned upon. But it's really the lesser of two evils. Masturbation isn't nearly as bad has having sex. If that's the worst you do, I wouldn't worry about it, especially if it keeps you from being led to other temptations.

I think it is natural to mastrabat yourself and most do it before they know what it is but wrong to play like that with eachother as it will lead to desire you may not be able to control pray on it and stay pure
