to my knowledge, he was born into the dominant religion of mecca.

"Mecca had already become a religious center of Arabic culture as its name suggests—one possible derivation of the name, "Mecca," is the word, "makorba," or "temple." The religion of the pre-Islamic Arabs was a mixture of Bedouin polytheism, Judaism, and a little bit of Christianity. The pre-Islamic Arabs worshipped three goddesses, al-Lat, al-Uzza, and Manat, who were all daughters of one god, Allah—this one god was probably derived from the monotheistic religions of Judaism and Christianity. Mecca was the center of this religion with its Ka'ba, or "Cube," which served as the temple for the religion."

Well Prophet Jesus (Peace Be Upon Him) was born within the House of Israel, and was sent for the "Lost Sheeps of Israel" only, and all Israelities were Jew. Prophet Mohammad (May Blessings and Peace of ALLAH Be Upon Him) was born in Arabia, and His family had Nothing to do with either Israelities or Jews. His family accepted the message of Prophet Abraham and Prophet Ismael (Peace Be Upon Them Both), so He was always a Muslim. Peace to All.

Are you talking about the Jews as a race or a religion?

Let's use simple reason to estimate just how much of Abraham's blood was in the average Arab living around Mecca near the time of Mohammad's birth...
Abraham lived between 2100 BC and 1800 BC. That's about 2500 years before Mohammad. 2500 years is about 125 generations. If Mohammad had lived within 100 years of Abraham, the amount of Jewish blood would be relatively high...maybe as much as 12%. After 125 successive generations of mixing Ishmael's 50% Jewish , 50% Arab blood with 100% Arab blood, it makes the amount of Jew's blood in Mohammad negligible. In other words, almost 0%. Mohammad was most certainly not a Jew, ethnicly or religiously

No he was not. He was basically a pagan although he was influenced by the various christian sects floating around Arabia as well as the Jews living there at the time. If you really want to learn more about Mohammed I recommend reading Washington Irving's Life of Mohammed. Yes,he is the same guy who wrote The Legend of Sleepy Hollow and Knickerbocker's New York.
