Yes, unfortunately. If you need the alcohol, try mixing vodka and cranberry juice. A little kick from the vodka with the antioxidants of the cranberry to kind of counteract the alcohol. Yummy!
But of course aren't really supposed to drink til it clears up.

I hope you are feeling better by now. If not or for the next time, Walmart sells CanberryPills. Pure cranberry in powder form in a capsule. I used to get UTI all the time when I was younger and these are a lot better then drinking the Cran juice.

in my experience - but i'm a guy, so YMMV - drinking has always HELPED the symptoms, but only the symptoms, not the underlying cause. i think doctors say, "don't drink", as a reflex, when, in fact, as often as not, drinking will not adversely affect a condition or medication (or course, there are notable exceptions, as with the narcotics and certain tranquilizers). to be perfectly safe, don't drink alcohol. drink cranberry juice (and, if you can, not the sugar water kind *coughoceanspraycough* - look for 100% juice). topical application AND ingestion of yoghurt - i'd go with the plain, for the... pudenda - is said to be of help, as well. why i know this, i shudder to think. feel better!

Yes, alcohol is extremely acidic and anything acidic will agravate a UTI. You need to drink lots of water and cranberry juice and nothing else

If you have a diagnosed Urinary Tract Infection you should not drink alcohol.
The doctor will so advise you. For one thing, it WILL aggravate the condition. For another it will cause problems with the medications you take to cure the infection.
Usually it will be an antibiotic that will turn your urine to the color of orange juice. Not pleasant. You will WISH it was okay to drink.

I would think so, because drinking will make yo have to urinate more and you will have to go through the burning pain more often than needed, make sure to take your antibiotics and your pyridium, thank goodness for that stuff, drink plenty of healthy fluids, i hope you feel better soon.

Alcohol is a diuretic, so I suppose it could worsen the symptoms of a UTI because it could dehydrate you.
