Almost certainly.
Nearly all newer electronic appliances have some sort of fast-start circuitry (TVs) or have built-in clocks (coffee pots, ovens, VCRs, microwaves, etc.) If you want to save electricity, even turning them off with the switch may not completely shut them down. To be sure, you need to completely disconnect them from the outlet. (Of course, then you'll have to figure out how to get them to stop blinking 12:00, 12:00, 12:00...)

Most new Tv's and other electronics can use up to 40% of their operating power while in a standby mode, waiting for you to turn the device on. A switched wall outlet is the best answer I've found to turn these items off when not in use.

Yes, when you switch off the TV with the remote, it will still be on "stand by", consuming some electricity.
It's a fire hazard as well, when you go to bed and let the TV remain on stand by.

Modern TVs pull a constant flow of electricity unless they are unplugged. We are talking VERY small amount of current in the "off" position...but still you are useing electricity and will be charged for its use.

yes they do, electornics go into a "stand-by" mode, where it still consumes some electricity, it helps in making it faster for the electronics to trurn back on, but it drains power.
