Any heating device is harmful to the hair..dangerous?... NO..it cause's damage to a certain extent, but if you have a professional take care of your hair needs then the damage is minimal. The only danger I can think of is if you touch your skin with one. Buy a CHI iron they are less damaging than any other iron out there. They are pretty expensive but so worth it. They have ceramic plates and the wattage is not as high as a normal irons. They are designed using negative ions which help with less damage to the hair.

Well, actually "yes they are"
But I was using one for about a year. I was ironing my hair two times in a month and it was enough for me. When I came to the hair dresser she told me that my hair was absolutely all right... Perhaps it was a good iron... I think they are not dangerous if you use them not so often...

There aren't very bad effects, just semi-bad. It will just dry out your hair. Just condition it and when you have a chance, let it air dry and go without using a curling iron when you can (use curlers you set your hair in at night, like the soft spongy ones).

yes!!!! i bought one and that s h i t burnt all my hair off...........LOL , just playing yes they could be if u use them daily at a hight temperature, if u want to use it daily set it on low to medium heat, even if u have to go over it again till it's perfect! now if it's only gonna be like twice a week than u could go for HIGH heat>>>>>nothing will happen to it then.......and if u do use it a lot....buy a shampoo for dry/damaged hair even if its not damaged , that will make it stay healthy

They will cause damage to your hair if you use them frequently.. once in a while shouldn't be too bad, though, as long as the heat isn't too high.
