In my own little mind, the writer meant by that; is the love Jesus showed for his fellow man.
To worship the divine can be done in many ways, just look at the so called savages the Christians converted
Divine (Webster)
1 a : of, relating to, or proceeding directly from God or a god b : being a deity c : directed to a deity
2 a : supremely good : SUPERB b : HEAVENLY, GODLIKE
By that definition many ways to seek the divine without being religious.

Jesus is not divine, he is human being, the prophet of God. It is sin to worship Jesus but not God. Jesus can not save this world, nobody can. Only God can do it
Whatever your sentence is saying, these words are taken from Bible probably, which is written by real people ( with many versions and contradictions). I would not take it as a direct source of religious teachings

Religion is a way of life. It's not just a belief. True, that statement is a bit of a paradox in itself, and doesnt quite make sense, but you CAN believe in a higher power without being 'religious' and participating in religious practices.

I don't know who the writer is but John 3:16 states that God so loved the world He sent his only begotten son that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. Bottom line: religion is man trying to reach God. Christianity (in its truest sense) is God reaching down to man. The Bible reveals the Living God. Follow the Bible and the truth will set you free.

there are some that are fakes, they pretend they know God, But their really just pew warmers, they hardly ever open the Bible on anyother day but the day they go to church, Its more important that they are seen in church, then living and really having faith in god, Infact Most people did not learn about God or his will by openning the Bible, but by what they have heard their parents or other family members tell them, If we don`t have enough gumption to find out for ourself what we need to do to live for God, His word is truth, its how you grow, if you don`t read for yourself your trusting that someone else is telling you the truth, Bible says the devil himself can be changed into an angel of light, we have to be on our toes, the devil will tell you a little truth, and throw in some lies and make you believe it, If you don`t know the truth, and the Bible is the truth, it has to be In your heart, your gonna need it to fight the devil. Im going to bed its 3:00 am here and im tired, good night, and god bless. I thought Of something else that might explain what the writer meant, anyone can sing, anyone can dance but to be good at it, it has to come from the heart, I think religion is just a word to mean you believe in God and you may go to church, but To know jesus, and to be saved it has to come from the heart, its just a passion you have for him.

Those are two separate questions.
I don't know who the writer was, nor do I know what context he wrote that statement in, so I have no idea what he/she meant by it. (My answer is "I don't know").
If a person worships the divine....vs....if a person believes in the divine are also two separate things. I believe in electricity, but I don't worship it. (My answer is NO!).

not necessarily, that means that closed minded followers (most of them, you know, the sheep type) won´t do anything about the problems this world carries because they are not able to think for themselves, but those who truly believe in helping and caring about others, and that are convinced deep in their souls (not because they were told so, but because they concluded it after tough consideration) that peace is the only way out of this living inferno we have built all around, those are the ones that would make a difference.
Sorry if this offends you, religion followers, but that is the way I feel.

In search of truth, one should be open minded. Here the writer looks to be blind believer of Jesus.

You can worship 'the divine' without being religious...but you can't worship Jesus without being religious. (you can still think he was pretty cool, though.)

Jesus Christ never promote or create any religion, and he instructed to his disciple's to spread the good news of SALVATION to the whole world, means whole human beings of any colour or religion.
