Your surgeon should be able to make plugs for your ears that will keep 100% of the water out. My son had them after a miringotomy and could even swim with them.

Go to your local Sally Beauty Supply and get a shampoo cap. They are not too expensive. What you do is have the person sit in a chair in front of the sink. Put the cap on and put the long drain tube into the sink. When you rinse the hair the water goes into the tube and into the sink. This is a big help. I have used this with elderly people and it seems to work quite well. The only other solution would to get some ear plugs made to fit the ear perfectly.
