How do you feel about intellectually stimulating conversation over the internet?

I feel it is essential to keep ones vocabulary and communication skills honed, be it in person, in writing, or over the internet in typing or voice chat, which I don't do. But a lot of people I believe lose their mental capacities for lack of using them and so I work puzzles, answer questions, IM with friends, take online courses. I have a brain tumor and realize that it could zap everything in an instant - but until then I want to learn everyday and communication is the greatest asset we have for learning, if we are wise enough to listen.

Intellectually Stimulating Conversation

Of course it would be great to have productive intellectually stimulating conversation. I think that only happens with synchronous collaborative tools at work (For example synchronous mind mapping or virtual classrooms used for staff training etc). If you randomly pick up any chat rooms, majority of the conversation will be indulging in soliciting far from intellectually stimulating conversation.

Amanitvam,
I like it, under certain conditions. Some intellectual conversations kill. I dig it. You find out where you are at in some of those, especially if you have nothing to say in them. Some people are just way smarter than I am and are able to have conversations that I cannot touch. But when they get on subjects that I can get into, then the same people might think me incapable, especially on spirituality.

I just try to communicate very clearly at those times, and they can take it for what it's worth.

Well, I tend not to find it too stimulating when someone repeats their thoughts multiple times.
But usually I do enjoy phylosophical arguments so long as it's solidly backed. For instance, I've given one or two people a possitive vote for showing that they really thought out their statements even though I disagreed with what they claim.

I love intellectual conversations.
I feel that it is necessary for me to have a man in my life who can discuss things beyond his back yard.

On the internet......Yes, sure.

That's why I talk to myself. It's the only intelligent conversation I ever get.
