Muslims have gotten a bad reputation, lately, and I do understand why. However, should they? All they're doing is following their religion as it is written. God says kill infidels, so they kill infidels. They're labelled as "insane" and "terrorists" for following their religion. However, it is not hard to think of a time when Christians followed Christianity the same way, and with the same results. Thousands of people killed in the Witchhunts, and the Inquisition and Crusades, and there is still Christian terrorism today from the KKK and Westboro Baptist. Should Christianity be looked at the same way as Islam, and all its followers labelled "Terrorists"?

Alright. I apologize. There is no passage that explicitly says to kill infidels. However, I feel that you may be missing the point. Let it be known, though, that I was wrong and I apologize.

I don't believe all the Muslims should be blamed and considered terrorists because a small minority amongst them is actually terrorist. Muslims are suspected because many of today's troublemakers originate from their community but it does not make all the Muslims terrorists. Your comparison with Christianity is totally relevant, as European crusaders and today's jihadists followed the same kind of commands from their Holy Scriptures: they were promised Heaven for dying for faith. However, these are only possible interpretations of these Scriptures, and fortunately, most of the Christians moved on to more sophisticated, more profound and more peaceful interpretations, which is why we no longer have Christian "terrorists" (they were no terrorists by the way, calling crusaders or inquisitors like that would be anachronistic). Therefore, no, even in these remote ark ages, ALL the followers of Jesus could not be called terrorists.

There is nothing about the life of Christ that would give a Christian the idea to do anything but follow peace and healing.
Luckily Christianity has the perfect life of Jesus to show us the error of the Cursades, Witchhunts and Inquisition and to hold those things up as bad examples so that we can learn from history.

Muslims have a bad name legitimately. Christians who act this way also deserve a bad name.
http://judgeright.blogspot.com
but the Qu'ran does teach their behavior while the Bible condemns those who do these things in God's name. Witch hunts were evil. Only God can judge the heart. KKK claim Christianity but do not hold to the tenets of the scriptures.
The Crusades were carried out in evil ways, but you must understand that this occurred on the heels of 400 years of Muslim persecution.
I suggest you get the resource: The Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam by Robert Spencer. What Christian is carrying out terrorist activities in the name of Jesus? The OK city bombing was not done in the name of Christianity. The abortion clinics bombings have been universally condemned by all the churches. This is not true of Islamic mosques' leaders and teachers. Some very few have condemned the jihadi actions but the vast majority of Islam celebrates every successful attack.
Their Qu'ran teaches them to hide their purpose in foreign lands until they are strong enough to rule.

I think that Muslims have all been tarred with a very wide brush for the actions of a few. It is unfortunate, and I hope it passes. What you say about Christian intolerance is true also.
The questions for me are:
Will the secular, tolerant society that our predecessors in the west have aspired to be able to live up to its own ideals?
Will Islam in the west be accepted as a part of the mix?
Will Islam accept to be simply one of many valid religious expressions?
The same questions are and have been asked of other religions in our societies and for the most part the answer has been positive, at least on the part of the majority, at least enough to maintain a societal consensus.
Let's hope, and more importantly, strive for the best.

You are missing the most important point which is the fact that Islam by far is the fastest growing religion on earth. The Western authorities recognize this fact and know that Islam is going to dominate the west in less than 100 years (this is a fact) so they are targeting Islam by all means to stop or at least slow its phenomenal spread. The invasion and destruction of several Muslim countries directly, and controlling others indirectly through loyal dictators to the west (Musharraf and Mubarak as an example), the extraordinary media propaganda against Islam all testify for this. See for your self the following examples:

As I understand it it is not written that Muslims should kill infidels. Some fanatics misinterpret the Koran for there own purposes. Religious fanatics give all religions bad names, and probably 60% of the worlds problems stem from these fanatics.

There are perfect families (nuclear, ideological) then there are 'genuine families' you could attempt to place them right into a classification so for occasion Muslim families... although, Arabs are muslim, Turks are muslim, Indian's, Pakistanis, everybody... there are English muslims. so which you won't be able to basically say 'all muslim families' and be performed with it... yet once you're a believer you may desire to stay 'a definite way' so no smoking, eating, ingesting beef (fairly the haram) no stealing, disrespecting so it fairly is all relatives value... not something to do with your faith or maybe subculture for that count. in case you have strict, mothers and fathers then you definitely've strict mothers and fathers, end of.

as a Muslim i can not and will not stereotype Christians by calling them a name because of a few.
it's not fair.
and we were not ordered to kill the infidels either!! the verses that speak of fighting the infidels are clearly talking about fighting in combat not a holy war!! and ONLY when Muslims are being prosecuted by tyrants. Muslims are ordered to fight against tyranny and oppression. and fight a combat fight not attack civilians. please. notice the difference
thank you for giving me the chance to explain.
peace be with you.

may be u should do some study before making a bold statement.
and who said that there is no freedom in islam. if someone does not beleive in islam, its their choice. they can do what they wish too. it is upto that person and Allah to decide, no man can judge another person, only Allah has the right. this verse says that only Allah will decide their fate.
Al-Baqara | 286 verses | The Cow سورة البقرة
Sura #2 | Madina
256 Let there be no compulsion in religion: Truth stands out clear from Error: whoever rejects evil and believes in Allah hath grasped the most trustworthy hand-hold, that never breaks. And Allah heareth and knoweth all things.
257 Allah is the Protecting Guardian of those who believe. He bringeth them out of darkness into light. As for those who disbelieve, their patrons are false deities. They bring them out of light into darkness. Such are rightful owners of the Fire. They will abide therein.
all man can say to such person is -- live and let live -- as the following surah tells u.
Al-Kafiroon | 6 verses | The Disbelievers سورة الكافرون
Sura #109 | Makkah
1 Say: O disbelievers!
2 I worship not that which ye worship;
3 Nor worship ye that which I worship.
4 And I shall not worship that which ye worship.
5 Nor will ye worship that which I worship.
6 Unto you your religion, and unto me my religion.
also Allah says that if someone insults u or ur religion, then do the following. true muslim under no circumstances will ever commit atrocities in the name of Allah and Islam. right now the bayan (sermon) i usually give at mosque starts with this.
Aal-e-Imran | 200 verses | The family of Imran سورة آل عمران
Sura #3 | Madina
200 O ye who believe! Endure, outdo all others in endurance, be ready, and observe your duty to Allah, in order that ye may succeed.
Al-Muzzammil | 20 verses | The enshrouded one سورة المزمل
Sura #73 | Makkah
10 And bear with patience what they utter, and part from them with a fair leave-taking.
Al-Maeda | 120 verses | The Table Spread سورة المائدة
Sura #5 | Madina
32 For that cause We decreed for the Children of Israel that whosoever killeth a human being for other than manslaughter or corruption in the earth, it shall be as if he had killed all mankind, and whoso saveth the life of one, it shall be as if he had saved the life of all mankind. Our messengers came unto them of old with clear proofs (of Allah's Sovereignty), but afterwards lo! many of them became prodigals in the earth.
and for all those people who kill -- irrespective of muslim or not, Allah has a big punishent for him in the afterlife.
Al-Maeda | 120 verses | The Table Spread سورة المائدة
Sura #5 | Madina
33 The only reward of those who make war upon Allah and His messenger and strive after corruption in the land will be that they will be killed or crucified, or have their hands and feet on alternate sides cut off, or will be expelled out of the land. Such will be their degradation in the world, and in the Hereafter theirs will be an awful doom;
