You bet! That's the only diet I tried that made me lose the extra 30 pounds without starving. You can eat good, tasty food every four hours and lose weight. Just give up the carbo and sugar. Buy the book as I was shocked to find food in the list that I could eat and certain sauces and veggies that have sugar and carbo disguised.

Check with your doctor first. If you have high blood pressure or heart trouble go for South Beach instead. If you have diabetes Atkins is more ideal

I have seen a lot of people lose weight on it, but within two years they have gained it back with some, not to mention muscle loss. If you were going to do anything like that I would do the South Beach diet and be very careful you are actually altering the bodies chemicals by changing and not having any carbs and so on the best thing going is Body for Life. They have a diet and exercise plan, that goes along with the national nutritional guide I think it works just as fast and last for a lifetime. Good luck!!

Wasn't the Atkins diet found out to be very unhealthy as it takes away some of the essentials the body needs?
The best diet is to cut down the size of the portions of food if you dont have time to go and exercise.
Example instead of having a Large Meal at McDonalds have a Medium.

In my experience, you do lose weight while you're on it, but the moment you quit it all comes back, with interest. It also puts your body into "starvation" mode so that your metabolism slows waaaay down. That's one of the reasons the weight piles back on when you quit. Not to mention the bad breath from all the ketones in your system.
Much better to use a sensible, balanced lifestyle diet, cutting down on fat and sugary "junk food", and eating lots of fresh veg and fruit. And exercise: find something you like and do it for you. Take the stairs whenever possible, park farther from your destination than you would normally, or get off the bus a stop or two early. Run any errands you can on foot. Drink plenty of water, esp. a glass right before and right after a meal.
Don't think "diet", think "positive lifestyle change."
Good luck.

i've got been residing the Atkins existence-variety (no longer weight loss application!!) for 2 and a nil.5 years. I reached my objective weight after approx 8 months having lost 21 pounds (over 40 six lbs). this way of eating is rather wholesome. in actuality, after the 1st 2 weeks of induction (and many individuals confuse this short section with the entire weight loss application) you gradually re-introduce many ingredients and gradually advance your carb point. by ability of the time you hit maintenance, in case you have executed the programme ideal you would be eating each little thing different than sugar, subtle/exceptionally processed ingredients and white flour. you would be eating numerous vegetables. that would not sound too undesirable to me! Your b/p, ldl cholesterol and blood sugar numbers will extra effective than probable strengthen dramatically. Dr Atkins did no longer "die of his very own weight loss application" as many human beings have self assurance. He slipped and fell and hit his head. while he became admitted to well being facility he became no longer overweght. He gained very lots of water weight by using drugs he became being given. don't be terrified of the Atkins weight loss application. it works and that's totally wholesome. do exactly it in accordance to the e book (Dr. Atkins New weight loss application Revolution - 2002 version)

It works if you love eating meat and fatty eggs and bacon etc. Personally I couldn't stick to it, it also makes your breath smell bad which is a definite no no in my book. I think it is easier for men to stick to it due to all the meat, a friend of mine lost lots of weight on it but you can't keep it up forever and soon lapsed back again.

I have been on The Holford Diet for a week and have lost 2 kgs and feel great. You are never hungry and it makes your skin glow. Buy the book and try it, it is fast weight loss without the pain.

Yes...I lost like 6 lbs. in the first week. It works great if you have a weekend event to go to (short term weight loss), but expect to gain the weight back unless you can stay on the diet forever(which would not be healthy). I lost about 20 lbs. on it, and gained 30 back!!!!! I'm just getting back on track with a regular diet and losing weight again. Be careful sweetie.

I lived with a girl once who did it. She went to the gym every day and ate steamed fish/chicken and vegetables for dinner and had eggs and bacon for breakfast every day. Think she did it for about two months - can't really remember but it seemed to work. She lost weight so quickly that I was stood behind her at the bus stop one day and didn't recognise her. I think she went from a size 16 to a 10.
The house reeked of cabbage ALL the time though and she said that she noticed her breathe smelt a bit. I would imagine it might be a bit boring having the same thing for every meal for two months.
I saw her a year later and she was still slim so it looked like it worked for her. You wouldn't catch me trying it though! Just stop eating cake and chocolate and exercise more.

I've seen it work for a few people, but do NOT do it. You're body and brain need those carbs!!! All you really need to stay away from is excess sugar and fat. I lost 60 lbs doing yoga and eating rice with 2 meals/day. Steamed rice and veggies with real butter was my favorite. If you think about it, it makes some sense- How many people in Asia, besides sumo wrestlers, are overweight?

Tried it once (whilst in Spain) for five months. Lost three stones, and just before Christmas (as you do) tucked into fatty foods again. It soon returned...but here's a bugbear - if you stop and start the diet, your body gets used to the chop & change and will not discard any more weight.
