I am nearly 17 and have had bad knees and ankles for over 3 years and have now developed pain in nearly every joint in my body. could I have arthritis? I know it is possible for teens to develop arthritis but I just can't tell if I have. I can crack every one of my joints (neck, elbows, shoulders, knees, ankles, wrists, fingers, toes, back, hips, and jaw). Could I have tendonitis or arthritis or neither?HELP!! I am also very stressed out with my lifestyle. I have not been as physically active until now. I used to ride horses but quit and developed more joint pain and am now afraid to go back to riding. I am also in dance but my joints prevent me from thoroughly enjoying myself. Please help me!!!!

I drink soda very rarely and am very thin and lightweight for those who made comments relative to those factors.

You need to see a doctor. Nobody here is qualified to diagnose or help you sight-unseen.

You should see a doctor for this might be a possibilty. Don't listen to those people that say only fat people get arthritis, BECAUSE anyone can get it. I met a little boy who was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis at age 4. I was Diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis at age 16 but was probably feeling some symptoms since I was 12. It could possibly be something else, but you will never know unless you see a docotr, preferably a Rheumatologist. Hope things turn out ok, and if it turns out to be arthritis, things will be ok. ;)

Dear Rachel, it's so early to have arthritis in your age, I am really sorry about this. Is this diagnosed by the doctor, if so, is this genetic-related or lifestyle-related? I presume, though, that your arthritis is the beginning stage, so it may be possible to ease your pain without medications, and I will give you a long-term advice. It works the best for the beginning stage. It may take you a year to feel the results, but it is easy and well worth it. This advice was given to my mom by her physician, and she cured her condition this way on one year. She changed her diet too, and it's been 10 years since then, arthritis never returned. If you drink coffee, you should stop doing that.Completely. Instead, buy paraguay 'tea' called mate (yerba mate) and drink it every day as much as you could, instead of any drinks. You can add lemon and honey, or other flavoured natural tea for best suitable taste. What it does, it helps to dissolve salt crystals in the joints and they get washed out of there, and pain goes away. You might want to go on the elimination diet or fast to reduce PH of your blood. High acidity of the blood is caused by some foods, mainly, meat and milk proteins and processed foods, and contributes to the condition. Check Dr. Young's 'PH balance' book to understand better what's going on in your body. To your health, Olga.

Imagine for a moment your arthritis completely vanishing right now.
If, in a moment, your pain and stiffness melted away. And your joints all of a sudden functioned like a well-oiled machine.
Like a magic wand was waived, you'd be able to jump up from your chair and run around the room like a kid.
And imagine that you'd never have to suffer as much as a pinch of arthritis stiffness or pain ever again.
I know this sounds impossible right now, but bear with me, because sometimes miracles happen.
It was a gift from a woman on the other side of the world. From the kindness of her heart, she took pity on my suffering and taught me how to completely reverse my arthritis.
Today, I want to do the same for you!

yes it is possible to have arthritis at such a young age I have had it since I was 16 years old I am now 34 and my knees and elbows are the worst but i also feel the pain in my shoulder blades and the neck area as well. Talk to your doctor and see about seeing a rhumetolgist. good luck Tylenol for arthritis works well as arthritis pain.

This does sound like it could be Juvenile Onset Arthritis.
You need to see your Family Practitioner for simple testing and possible referral to a Rheumatologist.
All joints will pop, they have air sacs that allow them to make that noise. My joints pop to, but
they always have. Long before I developed Rheumatoid arthritis.
Impress on your parents how bad you feel so they will make an appointment.
Good Luck!!

It's possible that it could be arthritis; I developed osteoarthritis at about 16.
Don't listen to mighty volcano, he doesn't know what he's talking about. Many sufferers are quite lean.
But, DO listen to the other respondents, here, and see a doctor to find out what's going on!

You really have to see a doctor - escpecially since you are so young. Could be rhematoid arthritis, etc - and you really need to just make sure and get some medication if you need it so you are not in pain. You are too young for this so call your primary and see who he refers you to.
I know that Glucosamin Chondroitin helps joints so you may want to try that supplement. Also drink plenty of water. Try heat packs or ice too - whatever helps you.

A simple blood test can give indications if it is indeed arthritis. Go to you doctor and get a blood test. Many treatments and medications are available to help control the symptoms. They won't "cure" the problem but they will make it more tolerable. Good luck.
