My girlfriend is 4 months pregnant and I'm tired all the time. People say that I am experiencing the pregnancy with her. I pushed it aside as a wives tale but I have no other explanation for my exhaustion. Has anyone else experienced this and is it true?

Although my husband never went through this when I was pregnant, my best friend's husband did. It wasn't so much that he felt tired, but certain smells really started to bother his stomach when his wife was pregnant, and oddly enough they weren't the same smells that were making HER sick! ;)
So I DO think there is something to it, I just don't know exactly what it is, just that it is psychological.
I have a very close male friend whose wife was pregnant about the same time I was and he was always having weird craving and feeling queasy.
When I was pregnant with my first child I was forever vomitting and my husband (who is now my EX-husband) would tell me how it was all in my head!!!
So the way I see it, I think it's sweet the way you are going through a kind of "sympathy pregnancy" so that you KIND OF understand how your girlfriend is feeling.

Best of luck!

Stress does a number to your body. Start taking vitamins (or beef up your intake if you already do), drink lots of water, get some exercise (it would be good for the two of you to go for walks together), and set aside some time to relax. It's unfortunate that all (or most of) the attention is dealt out to the woman when a couple gets pregnant, because hers is not the only life that is changing.

Good luck and congratulations!

I'd like to think this was sympathy-related if she is having a tough pregnancy but it may be just the emotional upheaval in your life at this time. Becoming parents for the first time is a pretty emotional and unsure time in your lives.

It's true to a point. My otherwise energetic and lively husband was down with me when I was pregnant. I think it is simply her rubbing off on you. Think about it, when your loved one sleeps in on a rainy day, do you want to get up and be active? Probably not. It's called a sympathy pregnancy, in technical terms.

Its true. I dont think you are lazy. The same thing happened to my daughters father. It was like he was pregnant too. It drove me crazy! Even if it is true, you need to get some vitamins or something to help you snap out of it because your wife really needs you to help her.

If I were you, I would go ahead and take a sleep aid and get some rest because you won't have time for sleep when the baby comes.

It is probably caused by stress - that's the number one reason rested people feel tired.

You've made her pregnent, and you are tired, now take rest for some days and stop poking her.
