"HCG can be found in your urine as early as 6 days past ovulation. Very sensitive home pregnancy tests can detect your pregnancy at about 9 or 10 days past ovulation in a significant percentage of cases."

Ovulation usually takes place about 14 days after the first day of your period. So basically, the very sensitive tests get results anywhere from three to five days before you are supposed to start menstruating.

HCG is a hormone that is present in women that are pregnant or that have recently been pregnant. It takes your body a while to build the levels up high enough for a pregnancy test to detect them.

You can get a pregnancy test that will detect "normal" pregnancy levels (ie, after your first missed period) for as little as five dollars. If you can't wait four or five days, you can spend three or four times that and get one that detects early (it will SAY early on the box). BTW, In my experience, the cheap tests work just fine; there's no reason to buy an expensive test unless you just can't wait.

I'm not too sure, but I understand that it takes a few days, that is why the morning after pill is effective, since it stops conception. As far as I know the sperm has to travel until it finds a fertile egg and so on. I hope this helps and an ounce of advise; next time, use a condon.

Even the earliest tests at home say you have to wait until three days before your missed period. You can have a blood test done at your doctor or local clinic (usually for free especially if you are under 18) much sooner. If I remember correctly it is 2 weeks before your missed period (that's the earliest).

You need to at least wait about 5 days. Then you can test close to the time of your period, that's what I've been told. But I personally think that if your preg, you're preg, it doesn't really matter how long you wait to test, but if you test too early it could come back neg because you're body hasn't reacted to the sperm yet.

Far too early.
The earliest a test can be done is about 4 days before your period is due.
Even then, you could get a false negative because the hormone level might still be too low for the test to work.
