Sounds like you might be a snorer. Does your "Hangy Ball" (I can't remember what the real term is) feel swollen? Snoring can cause this. You may have sleep apnea.

Sometimes breathing through the mouth will cause a sore throat in the absence of any infection. During the months of dry winter air, some people will wake up with a sore throat most mornings. This usually disappears after having something to drink.

Some people wake up almost every morning with a sore throat that disappears as the day goes on. Then at some point late in the day they develop a runny or stuffy nose. This can happen seasonally or all year long. This kind of sore throat is most commonly due to allergies. Because your nose is stuffed, you breathe through your mouth during the night. When you wake up, your throat is sore from all that dry air. In order to stop this kind of sore throat you have to deal with whatever is causing the allergies. NATURAL PRESCRIPTION FOR SORE THROAT Zinc lozenges--each lozenge containing about 23 mg. of zinc--can be taken every four hours. Do not use these lozenges for more than a week. Gargle with a mixture of half water and half hydrogen peroxide to help fight infection. Do not swallow this mixture, Gargle with crushed aspirin mixed with water to relieve pain, Drink warm tea with honey. Use an herbal or decaffeinated tea. Alternatively, you can also sip warm water with honey and lemon, If your room is very dry, use a humidifier. If you suffer from recurrent sore throats, try changing your toothbrush frequently. If you suffer from recurring sore throats, particularly ones associated with ear infections, investigate the possibility of a milk or other food allergy. If you suffer from recurring sore throats that are worse in the morning but disappear as the day goes on, you could have some form of hay fever.

I was coughing every morning, had the dry mouth, too.I figured it was allergies. I bought some of that Febreeze allergy spray, and used it on the bedding, really soaked it, and the matress, too.and started washing the bedding a little more often. It worked, no more allergy symptoms. Another choice is to buy the plastic covers for your pillows and bed. And buy a new pillow once in awhile, they are the biggest cause of allergies. And make sure you are hydrated.
You are probably breathing thru your mouth at night, question is, why? Do you snore? Are your sinuses full? Some saline spray, or an antihistamine spray might help that.

You could be sleeping with your mouth open and as a result have both your tongue and throat feeling dry and parched when you awake. It could be made more acute if you are sleeping with the air conditioning switched on, since this will have further drying effect on your throat.
Anyway, if it troubles you, go straight to see a doctor first thing in the morning to seek his professional opinion. About the wolves, well, ...

Normally , in this case you may be having sinusitis or allergies to your surroundings. Make sure you dont use carpet, keep soft toys that accumulate dust and no cobwebs around in your room. Okay you can try this, go to your local pharmacy get CETRIZINE and put one tablet at night before you sleep and the next morning when you wake up you may not feel the sore throat anymore. Its non addictive , no need to use in long term or lifelong, consult your doctor or pharmacies of its use.

It could be a couple of things.
1. It could be sinus drainage while you sleep, which will cause irritation in the throat.
2. You might be sleeping with your mouth open at night, this can cause the throat to get dry at night and be irritated by morning,,
Hope this helps, and if it becomes bothersome, go to your Doctor..

You are probably breathing with your mouth open and when the air passes by, it makes your throat sore. I do it too.

Do you have any allergies? I had this all the time (and worse) until I started taking some OTC meds before bed time and made sure I drank enough water during the day to keep things clear.
Then again, I'm no doctor, that's just what my situation was...
