YES, I also believe it's a test. Will we continue to trust in His infinite wisdom and move forward as you say or curse Him for our trials and have nothing else to do with Him?
The Silversmith
1.
Malachi 3:3 says: "He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver".
This verse puzzled some women in a Bible study and they wondered what this statement meant about the Character and nature of God. One of the women offered to find out the process of refining silver and get back to the group at their next Bible Study. That week, the woman called a silversmith and made an appointment to watch him at work. She didn't mention anything about the reason for her interest beyond her curiosity about the process of refining silver. As she watched the silversmith, he held a piece of silver over the fire And let it heat up. He explained that in refining silver, one needed to Hold the silver in the middle of the fire where the flames were hottest As to burn away all the impurities. The woman thought about God holding us in such a hot spot; then she thought again about the verse that says: "He sits as a refiner and purifier of silver." She asked the silversmith if it was true that he had to sit there in front of the fire the whole time the silver was being refined. The man answered that yes, he not only had to sit there holding the silver, but he had to keep his eyes on the silver The entire time it was in the fire. If the silver was left a moment too long in the flames, it would be destroyed. The woman was silent for a moment. Then she asked the silversmith, "How do you know when the silver is fully refined?" He smiled at her and answered, Oh, that's easy -- when I see my image in it"
If today you are feeling the heat of the fire, remember that God has His eye on you and will keep watching you until He sees His image in You

Dear RX Queen,
There is definitely Biblical support that God uses setbacks to strengthen our faith. We see this in the life of Joseph in the Old Testament.
The important thing to remember though is that God is not the cause of those setbacks. God did not cause Joseph's brothers to throw him in a pit because he wanted to use that to strengthen Joseph. The Bible said in Genesis 50- what man meant for evil God meant for good. Meaning God will use hurts and tough situations in our lives to strengthen us.
This is important because God would be an unjust God if he caused bad stuff to happen to us - just to strengthen us and test our faith. i believe that God allows as much difficulty as we can handle and he wants us to have a strong and tested faith- but he doesn't cause the tests for his amusement.
i hope that helps. Joseph is only one of many examples in the Bible. And there are other Scriptures that support the idea that God uses trials to strengthen us.
kindly,
Nickster

There is a particular scripture in Romans I love: God works all things for good for those who love Him, and are called according to His purpose.
Another one tells us not to be surprised when firey trials come our way, that trials produce patience, endurance, character and hope.
I believe that God allows His children to go through hard times to refine them into fine silver. But He is a God that will be with that person, every minute of every day, making sure that His purpose will be realized out of even the hardest of circumstances.
God truly does work all things for good, and yes....especially those things that look like "setbacks"...can be our greatest lessons.

I believe that setbacks happen as a way to teach us things and to be able to learn from them

Yes each setback makes you stronger and maturer and that helps in the long run as emotional strength & maturity helps you deal responsibily in difficult situations.

Trials and Temptations
2Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance.
I am going through the trial of career change. After 8 months, I finally fell into a meaningful teaching career. It has taken a long time, but I have been groomed and strengthened by this trial.
Peace to you always

Sometimes we trip, and sometimes we fall ... We either learn a lesson related to the situation, or we learn to get back up. Sometimes we learn both at the same time. Everything has a reason.
