The very portable apple. They do not rot or bruise easily, they keep well in the refrig, they travel nicely in a book bag. And there are these little dipping sauces, like carmel, that go in the microwave, and they come in individual servings. And both are fairly inexpensive. They are filling, and healthy.
Second choice are nuts and raisins. Same reasons.You can pack your own baggie full of nuts, instead of buying a bag at the checkout at the grocery, much cheaper. Same with the raisins. Buy the big box, and buy some baggies, the cheap ones at the discount grocery, wash them out between fills if you are really on a tight budget.
For the dorm room, the off brand of pizza rolls are almost a meal, and they are good and cheap.They have cheap mozzarella and Jalapena poppers.Wal-mart grocery has a big selection of their brand of chex mix, and some diferent snack crackers, both half the price of the name brands.( they have cheap carmel corn in a box, too. I like the little packs of cheese and crackers, and the cheese and peanut butter cracker packs.
And I think string cheese is a college must have, just like the top ramen.

There are three main ways to lose weight quickly.

Pasta + tomato sauce. You can eat that for dinner 2-4 times a week.
Bread and cold cuts. Have stuff for a simple sandwich around for whenever.
Ice cream is always good.
Frozen pizzas are good, too.

Casadillas.
Make 'em with corn tortillas! Make 'em with flour tortillas! Fry 'em or nuke 'em. Plain. Loaded. Best with salsa, or shredded chicken. Coby-Jack cheese or cheddar!
