According to the Christian faith, if someone lives right, tries as hard as he or she can to refrain from sinning, and accepts Jesus into his or her heart, then that person will live forever in Heaven.

But, let's say we have John. John is a nice guy. He works hard at his job, doesn't break the law, and tries to treat others the way he would want to be treated. But, John doesn't go to church. Well, he goes every once in a while, but not on a regular basis. Plus, he never actually accepts Jesus into his heart. Will John scorch in Hell forever just because he didn't go through the ritual of getting saved, despite the fact that he was a nice guy overall?

Before I end this, I think I should add that I am only asking this because I am interested in what other people think about it.

I would leave this question in the hands of God. None of us know the depths of his mercy.

Let me go one step further. There is a person who lives a pretty normal life, you know, they don't kill anyone or anything, but they ignore Jesus pretty much, never think about Him and certainly never accept Him as their savior.

There is another person who kills ten people. He is sentenced to death. Just before he dies, his heart is breaking for what he has done. In his sorrow and regret, He asks Jesus to forgive His sins, and believes that Jesus can save him from hell, even with what he did.

The first person goes to hell. The second person does not.

The bible says every single person has sinned, everyone. The only sinless person to walk the earth was Jesus Christ. Nothing, absolutely nothing you do, can save you. One thing only can keep you out of heaven; not accepting Christ as your savior. And God knows a truly repentant heart....it's not "lip service".

I hope that answers your question.

God makes it very clear and simple. All have sined and fallen short of the glory of God. Jesus said by the HolySpirit, "I am the the truth and the life and the way, no one comes unto My Father, but through Me."

1) John can accept Jesus as his Saviour and let Jesus pay for his sins throught Jesus shed blood on the cross for John.

2) John can turn down Jesus free offer to pay for his sins, then John must pay for his own sins, no matter how 'nice of a guy' he was, John is still a sinner just like me and everyone else.

Love them like Jesus!

First I don't think it's being judgmental to say this......The Bible makes it very clear that " We are NOT saved by works, but by Grace". There is no way to get into Heaven, but through Jesus Christ the son of the living God. If all we had to do was be nice and do good deeds, then what did Jesus die on the cross for? He died because we are all born into sin and we need a Savior. Jesus made it clear in His word when He said" If any man denies me before man, I will deny him before my father". There is no way around it...We have to accept Jesus into our hearts and repent of our sins asking for forgiveness. Sorry, but the truth is the light!

He must be born again to enter heaven, and you also said that he knows the way, but is lax in following it. This means that he knows what he must do. But I do understand though, these days, with such religious confusion, some people would rather stay home and read their bible instead of getting involved in the mess man has made of things. This would be fine, because God knows what is in our hearts, but we can't baptize ourselves, and that is a requirement. The only Muslim saying I like is this. If the man won't come to the mountain, the mountain must come to him. Or vice versa. In this case it would mean that perhaps he could have this service done on neutral territory, outside of a church. After all, Jesus was baptized in a lake, right? He could make it in then.

It depends on what you believe. While John is a nice man in society he does not have a relationship with Christ, and since Christ is the link between our souls salvation and going to heaven to be with God.Then according to the bible no matter how nice you are on earth makes no difference when its your time to be called to heaven and Jesus does not know you,u didnt have a personal relationship and were not saved, then u cant get into heaven.
But if you believe what the world says that all seamingly decent people will get into heaven, then according to the bible ur being decieved. However God does work in mysterious ways,so we are also asked not to judge others, including who will get into heaven and who will get into hell...

If John is doing right by John, then there is NO reason for him to go to Hell.

Whether you're praying in a church or in a closet, you're praying and showing your love for your savior. That's all that really matters. A church is a house of worship, but you can worship in your own house.

Besides, who's the person that spoke to God personally, and came back to let us all know that God said "Christianity is the faith that will grant you a free ticket into Heaven?"

According to Christianity yes he will go to hell. But in the early days of Christianity probably not. In the Middle Ages, he would have been on spit next to all the children who died before being baptized. It changes with the times and Christians have been eerily like the Middle Ages self lately. Lets say, John, yeah if he is a Christian then yeah. If he is not no.

in my opinion i dont think you can go to hell because you dont go to church on regular basis but on the issue of john not accepting jesus into his heart i think that get you to hell.
whats the point of being a christian and going to church if you dont accept jesus?
i think hes not a strong believer so anyway he lives right doesnt annoy people thats what matters his case is a matter of belief so no one can have a right judgement about him. you will go to hell if you dont accept jesus into your heart i think thats what the bible says
i think john is a nice guy but not a strong believer the question of wether he will go to hell or heaven should be Gods task.

First of all the bile teaches that only 144,000 anointed people will reside in heaven along side Jesus christ. They are refered to as the small flock and the large flock is the rest of the people who will live forever on paradice earth after armageddon.
You must do more than believe that Jesus exsists and just because you are a good person and you try not to sin does,nt mean your going to get the blessing of everlasting life. You must worship God not Jesus and by worship that means you have to do what the bible teaches.
The biblbe teaches us that in order to get this blessing we must exercise faith in God.
That means faith alone is worthless. The bilbe even says "faith without works is dead"
By exercising faith that means you live your faith everyday all day. You must prey, be baptised, and you must dedicate your life to preaching the good news. You must assemble together and you must love your neighbor as yourself. You cannot be slacked and expect a reward.
Your idea of what the christian faith is is lacking a little knowledge.
As far as John scorching in hell-thats another misconcieved notion. The word hell means grave. I highly doubt Jonh will burn in his grave - rot
but not burn.

if those like john go to hell, then heaven will be empty.
christianity is not that shallow. heaven starts here in this earth as well. it comes from your inner happiness.

accepting Jesus is all matter of time. maybe in his heart and through his lifestyle he already has. God's got his own time and ways to get people to heaven. church is not necessarily the way. it's personal relationship with god and how you live up to that belief proves your faith.
