Find a local homebrew supply store and pick up a copy of Charlie Papazian's "Complete Joy of Homebrewing." Read the first half of the book twice; the second half is more advanced stuff for later.

If you still want to brew, pick up a homebrewing kit and a recipe kit.

DO NOT GET A MR. BEER OR A BEER MACHINE!!!

Go to http://www.beertown.org/homebrewing/listings.asp to find a homebrewing club near you. Clubs are a great source of information.

I have a Mr Beer kit and i create my own recipes with the Mr beer products and products from our local home brew store. If you want to make it from scratch, the Mr beer keg is a good 2 - 2 1/2 gallon pilot fermentor. As how to make it. try beertools.com

I buy the stuff to make it at the local Zymurgist store, He likes to help everybody to the best of his ability. there is probably a store in your town or search Home Brewing or Zymurgy in your favorite browser. There are lots of websites for brewing sales places.
