Spelt wrong, I know. I have no idea of how it is spelt or what language it is but it is pronounced how I have typed it: bag-air-ross.

My guess is you are meaning vaqueros, the Latin American Spanish word that was borrowed (and phonetically adapted) into American English as buckaroo. It is "cowboys" (the singular is vaquero) and a calque of it became American English "cowboy".
